Good day to you, fellow aficionado of the world of fanfiction (or random person who just happened to stumble in here from the endless landscape that constitutes the World Wide Web)! I bid you welcome to the place where I house the various ramblings and musings that come from within the strange, inexplicable entity that is my brain. Feel free to take a look around if anything catches your eye. Otherwise, thank you for stopping by :)
For those that are interested, I have also included some extra information about myself and said ramblings/musings:
~ About Me ~
Trust me, you want to know as little personal information about this weird, sometimes lazy, oftentimes irrational, chocoholic daydreamer as possible! However, if you really are desperate to know something, then know that I am an employed, twenty-something female who lives with a wonderful partner in their small apartment, along with an ever-growing number of pets who seem to find endless pleasure in manipulating us both in to waiting on them hand and foot. ;D
~ About Why I Write ~
I have always enjoyed the art of writing, and of utilising the imagination to craft and envision different worlds, characters and storylines. Eventually, or perhaps inevitably, I turned to writing fanfiction so as to better explore, or make use of, already developed characters that I happened to find interesting or intriguing. Whilst I do not have any aspirations to become a professional writer of any sort, I do nonetheless take my work seriously (most of the time) and put a lot of effort into (hopefully!) making it as legible and interesting as possible.
~ About the Original Characters I Write ~
Yes, I do create and use original characters, despite the bad rep that they have (especially on this site), but I can honestly say, without a shadow of doubt, that I never use the characters I personally create as a means of writing myself into a given story. I’m afraid I’m far too much of a wuss to ever even consider experiencing the various situations that I put my characters in, let alone desiring to do so! If I do create an original character to use within a fic, there is always a reason for me doing so, whether that reason be that I don’t feel comfortable enough with the given canon characters to be able to write about them in a way that would do them justice, or because I want to tell a story that simply wouldn’t work as well with a canon character.
~ About the Type of Stories I Write ~
I do tend to write somewhat dark stories which, I’ve been told, can often cross the line into downright disturbing territory. I imagine this is largely down to the fact that I prefer to write about shady, oftentimes heartless, villains as opposed to heroes. I can’t honestly tell you why – I guess I must just have a sinister muse! ;)
I would like to make one thing very clear about the content of my stories though; whilst I do write about what can be very serious or sensitive subjects, that does not mean that I, in anyway, condone such actions or behaviour. As I said, the types of characters I usually deal with do tend to be, to put it bluntly, very evil, and as such do things that, more often than not, are completely unacceptable, no matter how they’re depicted. I’m sure my readers are all mature and sensible enough to realise this, but on the off-chance that there was some doubt, I wanted to make my feelings absolutely clear.
~ About Feedback ~
Like pretty much every other author on here, I am always very grateful to anyone who puts the time and effort into writing a review of my stories, all the more so if it’s to say that you found something enjoyable or worthwhile in them. I will be the first to admit that my writing is far from flawless so I also very much appreciate constructive criticism as well, should you choose to give some. The only thing I would ask though is that you be polite about it, rather than lambasting something simply because a point doesn’t appeal to your own, particular tastes or predilections. I am very much a believer in if you don’t like something then just move on to something else – no one’s got a gun to your head! (Or if they have, you should probably look into that rather than hanging around reading fanfiction ;))
~ About the Old Stuff listed here ~
Yes, I’m afraid my old stories are even more riddled with grammatical and continuity errors than my more recent stuff and, to be perfectly honest, should really be deleted. However, I am unwilling to take such action because of the number of favourites that these works still hold and I know from personal experience that it can be very disappointing to have a piece of fic just up and vanish on you without explanation. I realise that I could go back and re-write everything I’ve written but, to be perfectly honest again, I simply don’t have the time or impetus to really do so since I find it easier and more rewarding to concentrate on my more recent works, and also because RL keeps me extremely strapped for spare time – more’s the pity! ;)
~ And Finally… ~
Here are some quotes, by some far more gifted authors than I could ever dream to be, that I think are worthy of mention simply because of their fundamental truth and because I personally find them to be extremely poignant:
“Oh world, beware of clever sheep. They are the truly dangerous ones, for they understand the stupidity of the flock; know just how easy it is to lead the people to slaughter.”
“All people have three characters, that which they exhibit, that which they are, and that which they think they are.”
"It is a terrible thing, this kindness that human beings do not lose. Terrible because when we are finally naked in the dark and cold, it is all we have. We who are so rich, so full of strength, wind up with that small change. We have nothing else to give."
“Recognizing power in another does not diminish your own.”
“And in the end, we were all just humans...drunk on the idea that love, only love, could heal our brokenness.”
And there we are! That’s all that I shall burden you with in this section! My thanks for taking the time to read this (if indeed you have done so), and I wish you all a good day and happy reading!
