Update!: Nov. 2, 2014
Hey folks it's been a real long time, but I'm hoping to bring back Null Tongues maybe! You know, the super crazy long and complicated Kingdom Hearts fanfiction from my sophomore year of high school? Yeah, let's all take a moment of silence for the tragedy that was this fan fiction. Point is, I'm attempting to write the first "fast-draft" of a new and improved first Arc for NaNoWriMo 2k14. This version is going to be called Pyretongue.
Yep yep, I'm hoping to make a comeback with this story. If anyone is interested in being a beta-reader for the first or second draft, please let me know! I probably won't actually need anyone's attention until around mid December or early January, assuming I can keep on schedule.
I have a few goals lined up for this new version of the story. With any luck, this new draft will:
I'm also going to try cutting down the narration and limiting things a little more. In the original drafts, every chapter was written from the first person perspective of a different character. This was a really fun exercise in finding character tones, but looking back I realized it made the story a little too... vast. Especially with such a large cast to work with? The story is already vast without the narration jumping all over the place with so many different characters coming to different conclusions at different times. I realized that it would ultimately make important details difficult to keep track of further along down the line.
Instead, my plan is to write most of the story -- I'd say about 80% of it -- from Sydney's first-person point of view. It is, after all, Sydney's story, first and foremost. That's why I chose to start the story in Endsville, rather than when the group is together and ready to go on their big quest. Sydney's story starts in Endsville.
The other 20% will be written in third-person, hopping between important characters just like before. It just won't happen as often, and the narration will be way more objective than before.
I'm also going to include summaries at the end of every arc, mainly for the chapters which will include fandom worlds not everyone may be interested in.
Hopefully by the time I begin uploading chapters, the fic will have already been completed so I can have a steady update schedule. Anyway, I don't know if anyone's even interested in this silly old story anymore, but that's my plan and I hope I can stick to it.
And like I said before, I'm always searching for beta readers!
