Jade Reporting is a livejournal based fan-community dedicated to the wonderful game Beyond Good & Evil by Marcel Ancel. The game features Jade, a freelance reporter, who is recruited to help defend the world of Hyllis from the attacking Domz empire. We at Jade Reporting are a collection of enthusiastic fans discussing, but also creating artwork and fiction about a game we love. You are always welcome to visit and learn more about us and the authors at Jade_Reporting on livejournal, or to send a PM to join.
The authors are listed below with their LJ names; their stories can also mostly be found on our original community Jade Reporting. The copyright of Beyond Good & Evil belongs to both Ubisoft and Michel Ancel – only the stories belong to the respective writers and they do not wish to gain any money with them. Do not use any of the stories without the permission of the respective authors!
But now enough of the introductions and such stuff. Go on and enjoy yourselves!
Just to say a general warning: The stories maybe or maybe not contain at least minor spoilers for the game.
Jade Reporting is only the name of the account, the respective authors are mentioned below, then in the summaries and the stories. If you send reviews, please remember this.
- The Sun and the Storm - Shortly after Pey'j and Jade come to Hillys, Pey'j has some inhibitions about being stuck holding the baby, as it were. It might take a little bit of thought for him to come to terms with it. Some swearing, but nothing major. - Winning entry at Jade_Reporting for the contest "Rain". Contains minor spoiler for a plot-important revelation - and so much cuteness, you'll suffer from diabetes after reading about how Pey'J interacts with sweet baby Jade.
- Someone Different - What's worse than bringing your new boyfriend home to disapproving parents? Bringing your new, not-your-boyfriend home to your disapproving and suspicious orphans. - Winning entry for the contest "What we didn't see, could only piece together". An interesting approach to a side of Jade never shown (like this) in the game, but also exploring more of the Lighthouse orphans' personalities.
- Green-Eyed Jealousy - Jade and Double H have just departed on a mission, but Meï's feeling somewhat apathetic about it. She claims she's just worried about Double H because he's been "ill". But Nino knows better... - The author was prompted to write this on reading in a thread of our community there is a criminal lack of Meï in the world - thus, she didn't want to "be part of no problem". She succeeded in every aspect, may I add.
- Independent - Jade's worried. Double H helps. Self reflection. - Without giving anything about the plot away, I love how Jade is torn is between what she wants to be and what she denies to need. Thinking about how she acts in the game this is very lickely; on the other hand, her thoughts are picked-from-life and everyone can relate to them, because it is a common experience for every person to feel like this.
