About Me (former pen name Beyond Peripherial Vision)
Hey ya! I've always found these introductions quite precarious, so you'll have to forgive any awkwardness on my part. My name is Sidra, and while I wouldn't identify myself as a writer per se, I am someone who occasionally enjoys writing. I'm not dedicated to my fiction, though I would probably be a better person if I were. Short stories are my favourite, I'm always impressed when an author can build characterisation, plot, and theme in such a short amount of words.
I'm a vagabond of sorts. After living in a number of other countries, I've found it hard to sit still (most likely the reason I'm not a dedicated writer). I enjoy indie and acoustic music, as well as photography, culture studies, playing my ukulele, education reform, and working as an international communications associate and copywriter for Youth With A Mission (YWAM).

"I like it when it rains hard. It sounds like white noise everywhere, which is like silence but not empty. "
“Once a little boy sent me a charming card with a little drawing on it. I loved it. I answer all my children’s letters — sometimes very hastily — but this one I lingered over. I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote, “Dear Jim: I loved your card.” Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, “Jim loved your card so much he ate it.” That to me was one of the highest compliments I’ve ever received. He didn’t care that it was an original Maurice Sendak drawing or anything. He saw it, he loved it, he ate it.”
