Hmmmm...what to say, what to say.
I'm a 35 year old single mom who works full time and runs crazy full time with her 5 year old daughter who is the delight of my life.
A long time reader of both classics and fantasy books (David Eddings ROCKS), I've always loved a good escapist read that goes down like the proverbial spoonful of sugar. For as long as I can remember, I've dabbled writing silly bits and bobs by taking people I knew in my real life and thrusting them into situations which clearly didn't happen (found some absolute crap I wrote back in Fresh/Soph years of high school...what a cringe-tastic walk down memory lane THAT was!).
I've recently found "fanfics" and discovered that that was what I was already doing with people I knew...why not try it with my beloved book/movie characters as well?
So here I am, dipping my toe into the water...er...ink...er...toner cartridge...er pixels?! ;-)
After years of holding out ("I'm a grown up!!...I don't read YA fantasy/vampire/angst!"), I finally was conned into reading the Twilight Series. I started with Midnight Sun on a Wednesday at work (MAN, I hope SM is able to reach back to that one day and print that sucker...LOVE Edward's POV) so I wouldn't have to put any actual money into it...and was instantly sucked in. I bought Twilight and New Moon on the way home from work that evening, and picked up Eclipse and Breaking Dawn that Friday. Read them all in less than 5 days over the long holiday weekend.
It's not "great literature" by any matter of means, but it sure goes down like a spoonful of yummy topaz eyed sugar and I'm impressed with Stephenie's ability to yank you right into her world and keep you there. Kudos, lady!
Bought the DVD that weekend as well (no...hadn't seen the movie yet...see above 'holding out') and got totally suckered into a Rob Pattinson crush. I am SUCH a cougar, now. Oh yeah.is my favorite eye candy and daily dose of humor for all things Spunk Ransom.
