Earth, receive an honoured guest:
Time that is intolerant
Worships language and forgives
Time that with this strange excuse
In the nightmare of the dark
Follow, poet, follow right
With the farming of a verse
In the deserts of the heart
-W.H. Auden, "In Memory of W.B. Yeats"
"We are raised to honor all the wrong explorers and discoverers - thieves planting flags, murderers carrying crosses. Let us at last praise the colonizers of dreams."
There's no real logic to what I post on my profile. For now it's just the resurfaced remnants of English classes long past. I'm a sentimental romantic at heart, although I tend to enjoy the darker, angstier side more than Wordsworth's frolics through daffodils. Currently reside in Maryland; also lived in St. Louis, Los Angeles, Chicago and Beijing. No idea where home is.
