I am currently working on my first story ever! It's a Teen Titan's fic called Shock and Awe. Chapter 1-5 posted, and I'm working on chapter 6 RIGHT NOW...I mean it...I AM! Stop looking at me like that -_-. I plan on making this story a long one, so I'm pretty jazzed about it.
Current Project: Teen Titans Fic, Shock and Awe. Status: Starting once again with chapter 8 after a monumental hiatus.

Pet Peeves of Fan-fiction: Alright folks, I'm not usually one to give advice, other than in a story review and such where its needed, but there are a couple of things I see a LOT on this site from some of the writers, who shall remain nameless, (mostly because I can't remember them.)
1: Writing well established figures in a story Out Of Character (OOC). This is, and for the foreseeable future, will be a MAJOR problem for some writers. Now, don't get me wrong, the occasional slip up here and there isn't really a big deal to me, especially when the author has a reason pertaining to the plot, or at least acknowledges it if it's unintentional. Huge things though, like say, Raven from the Teen Titans suddenly falling all over herself just to please some guy, (coughbeastboycough) and feeling as though she just CAN'T live without him within the first chapter, with no real history behind it, or becoming ridiculously over-emotional, (obviously not familiar with the this character) really doesn't fly.
First of all, this shows that the writer either knows nothing about the character, or that they're completely disregarding the facts about them, (how they talk, act, interact with others, etc.) to try and incorporate their own feeling on a matter, or how they think the character needs to act for whatever scenario the author put together that the characters would otherwise normally act differently towards. Wow, that was a mouth full...anyway! There is NO reason to mess with an established character in such a manner, by all means, develop them naturally, in a way that makes sense to who they are, and you've most likely got a great head start on your story.
2: Okay, now we're going to talk about a HUGE issue in the Fan-Fiction would, and I'm sure this goes for ALL parts of this website, and not just the one I tend to hang out in: Original Characters (OC's)
Now, if you're like most of the dedicated, serious writers on here, this is no doubt a touchy subject. You can ask any of them about OC's, and they'll all tell you the same thing, Mary-Sues (or Gary-Stu's, as the case may be) absolutely KILL a story. This is evidenced by most of these said 'dedicated writers' own profile pages, which will pretty much tell you the same exact thing as I am. Not only is the process of making a new character's story both believable and appealing to the readers an incredibly difficult task, it's also in most cases rather impractical. Normally, a fan-fiction writer already has SO many well established and clearly beloved characters, that making up someone who is just there to fulfill the authors fantasies, (granted this is only in some cases) is just plain overkill.
My advice to all if the first time writers on here, (which is a club that I have no delusions about belonging to) is don't start out your FF career with an OC as the main focal point of your story, all this will do is make the story much harder to write, and even harder for the readers to take seriously. I wholeheartedly believe the only authors who should be attempting such a feat, are well established writers who plan on either becoming professionals, or have a great aptitude for original story telling.
(If you want a good example of someone who has a grasp on how to use an OC as a plot device, while keeping the main focus where it should be, on the main characters, I suggest Templar of Honor's Teen Titan story, "Perfect Apprentice". Its really the only one I've come across that is a very well balanced mix of the two.)
So, for now, that's all I've got to say. This was done entirely out of boredom, though my views are true in this case. I may add more at some point, but these are the only things that have been bothering me so far, soo...TO BE CONTINUED.
