FRIENDS, CARTOONS AND GREAT NOVELS ARE LIKE BEER. THE BEST ARE NEVER ADVERTISED-- Novalia1001 (2014).
I am a fascinating creature, a self-proclaimed idiot who sometimes fears her own genius. I write for the purpose of seeing what I can communicate without obviously saying it, and all of my friends are as marvelous as I am, if not more so--and my best friend is also the best kind of rival: the one who you want to smite.
I don't update the old stories that I have mostly because I like to look back and say, "I was like that once," and either laugh or cry with embarrassment. More than anything else I'm eager to showcase my failures as well as my successes. There's something in the back of my mind that tells me that that's a good thing, somehow.
I enjoy conversations even when I have no idea what the other person is talk about, and I ask questions to a fault. I like Private Messaging and gained a great friend through it.
I am a hunter for music that people have never heard of either because its that old, that far away or that unheard of. My songs are played by Groove Armada, Clean Bandit, Pat Metheny, Apples in the Stereo, Plaid, Koan and the soundtracks of my favourite movies. For some reason I really hate social media but participate in it anyway.
I think that's the part where most people input "lol".
Profile Update: 23rd of November, 2015.
I read some of the things that I had written a year ago and flinch.
There's a real exhilaration in having my past life so open and exposed to the world as it is through this site: in my earlier works I can see a young girl in love with the idea of young love from the perspective of a girl, a little older now, who's enchanted by politics and anthropology, western versus eastern histories, visual arts and its division from the "respectable" careers involved with the sciences, and mythologies that speak of the origins of mankind. My name is Nova, pleasure to meet you.
Whenever I write I feel like the information is coming from a distant world. And I have felt that way ever since I was conscious of myself drawing, which was well deep into my childhood. I was blessed with a pair of parents who have supported me artistically, who have given me a computer when I wanted to write, a piano when I wanted to play, and the opportunity to get a degree in the Visual Arts when I wanted to draw for the rest of my life.
My favourite mediums to illustrate with are the mechanical pencil, preferably 0.5 in size, the pen quipped with water soluble ink, and water based media that includes acrylic paint, water colour paint, and occasionally food colouring, alcohol, salt, coffee, and tea. My favourite genres to write and read about are science fiction, space opera, westerns, and alternative history. I'm female and have an occasional penchant for tasteful yaoi.
I make my own clothes and paint my own nails and have been called a feminist, but as an artist I flee from most categorizing "-isms"; commentators of society aren't allowed to shelve themselves.
