"A Champion's Story" Bios
Name: Eric Lombardi
Date of Birth: 5/15/94
Titles: U.S.A. Pokémon Battle Champion
Birthplace: St. Louis, Missouri
Current Home: A Pokémon Research Lab, just outside Beloit, Wisconsin
Physical Appearance: Brown Eyes, Brown messy hair, Light skin, 5'10"
Preferred Outfits: White running shoes, black zipper cargo pants, several differently colored t-shirts (not worn at the same time, mind you), black leather fingerless glove on his right hand, stainless steel analog watch
History: Eric was raised to believe that all living things are equal; humans, pokémon, and whatever else there may be. He and his parents were close friends with a man they called Professor Aldin, a pokémon professor, who only lived a short drive away from their house. (More info will be added as the story progresses.)
Personality: Eric's personality is usually dependent on his mood and runoff of previous events. He can become irritated fairly quickly, but while he's in a good mood, he's friendly and helpful, and all around, a likeable guy. But he's not without his quirks. He is rather curious and that sometimes overshadows common sense for him. He's also a bit of a scavenger; if he finds something that he likes and/or that he can use, he'll pick it up. This is a trait that has gotten him into trouble on some occasions. He has a rather quick wit, and a dry sense of humor.
Battle Style: When he is engaged in a pokémon battle, he enters an alternate state of mind where all other thoughts are pushed aside and replaced with strategic and tactical thinking. His battle style is well-balanced and varies between his pokémon. He has given his Pokemon special serums made by Prof. Aldin that enhance their abilities. Eric has personally tailored their move-sets to cover their weaknesses, to deal with of their opponents' weaknesses, and generally to adapt to any situation. However, he does have one weakness, though he generally doesn't see it as too much of an issue: his team only has five members. A sixth has been considered many times, but Eric has trouble deciding what he should start looking for.
Possessions on Hand: Pokédex with maps of the Sinnoh Region, miniature laptop and charger, some medical supplies, food, a custom-made tent small enough to fit in his backpack when collapsed, Desert Eagle (no ammunition), switchblade ("looted")
Matthias was Eric's very first pokémon. Eric (who was only 8 years old at the time) found Matthias as a stray Riolu, hungry and alone. Eric brought the young Fighting type home with him and nursed him back to health. During that time, Matthias formed a bond with his rescuer. When Eric finally decided to let him go, Matthias wouldn't leave. That's when Eric decided to keep the Riolu. 3 years later, Eric entered a local battle tournament to try to make a name for himself. During the final round, they were down to their last pokémon: Matthias. Matthias was quickly weakened by his much stronger opponent. But just as his adversary was about to strike him down, Matthias evolved into Lucario. However, they still lost due to Eric's undeveloped skill. Now, Matthias is essentially the leader of the team, trying to keep the other pokémon from ripping each others heads off and taking charge when Eric leaves them alone. Occasionally, Eric takes him out to spar. Matthias, through the power of Aura, is able to communicate with humans. He is the only one of Eric's pokémon that knows about his encounters with Cresselia.
Axel was Eric's second pokémon. Eric got him at 10 as his starter pokémon when he was still a Treecko. Upon being given to Eric, he battled so frequently that Axel evolved into Grovyle within a week. As Axel got stronger, he also became ruthless and brutal. So brutal, in fact, that Eric was disqualified from a tournament because he couldn't get Axel to stop attacking a downed opponent. After that, Eric had to refrain from using him for quite a while. But not because he was ordered to; Eric did so of his own accord. Eventually Axel realized why he wasn't allowed to battle and learned to restrain himself when need be. Now, he is Matthias' headache, more or less. He considers himself as the ONLY decent pokémon on Eric's team, with the others being his "meat shields." All in all, he's a jerk, but he does show a good side on occasion...
Krystal (Ninetales; Shiny)
Krystal was Eric's third pokémon. Eric got her as a Ninetales at 12. Eric was wandering through the forest in Colorado, looking for pokémon, when he spotted her sleeping in a clearing. He had seen other Ninetales before and thought he would capture her to show to Prof. Aldin. He got lucky, only throwing one pokéball at the Fox pokémon before success. When Eric showed her to Prof. Aldin, he was amazed; he had never seen a Ninetales with black fur before. Now, she is the "peacekeeper" of the team, trying to keep Axel and Matthias from killing each other. She also considers herself to be Tara's mother. She is very protective of everyone on the team. Hell, she may have been a Gardevoir in another life...
Tara is Eric's fourth pokémon. She was found as an egg when Eric was 14. When she hatched, Eric and Krystal were the first things she saw, taking them to be her mother and father. She is very energetic and playful, but what would you expect from a pokémon still so young? One of her favorite "games," much to Eric and Krystal's dismay, is running in circles around Axel for hours at a time. This just annoys the hell out of him, and Eric or Krystal often end up saving her from a Leaf Blade. Now, she is still very young, but she has grown up a little bit. Eric has a finally allowed her to evolve, seeing her battle with Ash Ketchum's Pikachu as enough proof of her abilities. Eric is thinking about changing her moveset currently.
Ivana is Eric's fifth pokémon and the newest edition to the team. Eric found her dying in Eterna Forest and rescued her. Apparently, her former trainer, Miles, had something to do with the condition that she was found in. She's very shaken up about it, too. Seems to be taking a liking to her new trainer. She now knows what caused Eric's coma. Ivana is a rather timid pokémon (understandably so, considering what she went through), but once she gets past that, she is an invaluable ally. Eric gave her a dark green scarf for her to wear, which she does happily.
