"I go to seek a Great Perhaps"- François Rabelais
“Maybe you can afford to wait. Maybe for you there's a tomorrow. Maybe for you there's one thousand tomorrows, or three thousand, or ten, so much time you can bathe in it, roll around it, let it slide like coins through you fingers. So much time you can waste it. But for some of us there's only today. And the truth is, you never really know.” ― Lauren Oliver, Before I Fall

Hey reader! Thanks for stumbling into my profile! Thank you for being curious about me!
time for some self-reflection :)
What Fanfiction Did For Me:
Read some of the best stories in the world here: Some of you guys are more talented than any real, published author ever. I hope I stumble across your writings in the real world.
Made me a better writer: I’ve been exposed to so many great writing styles, had the opportunity to practice my skill and get support. Fanfiction has been my patient training wheels. I still suck, but I suck less.
Gave me a home: I used to be a loner. I was shy and friendless and weird and scared. I come from an emotionally (and slightly physically) abusive and manipulative household. The words here have provided me comfort when there was no soul I could share my pain with.
Made some great friends: You know who you are ;)
Got the opportunity to read SecretKeeper by to-love-is-to-lie. They say the best stories stay with you forever and this one will be immortal within my heart. I was looking for a typical Gaara/OC fanfic and stumbled upon a life lesson.
Writing Tips:
I suck at writing but I can give you tips on how to suck less. These are the things I look for in a story and try to incorporate in my own:
Love what you write. Never. Force. Yourself. If you don’t enjoy writing what you are writing, there’s a 100% chance that no one will enjoy reading it. Your job is not to write for your readers. Your job is to write for yourself. This is especially true for fanfiction. Honey, you ain’t getting paid. You’re doing this because you love doing this so stop the moment it feels wrong. You owe no one but yourself.
Make sense. As a rule of thumb, write in such a way that even a 5th Grader can understand you. You don’t have to vomit the thesaurus. Make sure a paragraph doesn’t have more than 4-5 sentences. Follow basic grammar rules and check your spelling. You don’t need to attend a writing workshop and get a beta-reader to make sense. You don’t need to describe every inch of the dining room. Your job is to tell a story. Just make sense.
Update regularly. If you have made a commitment, stick to it. It doesn’t matter if you have promised to update daily, weekly, monthly or once in three years.
If you have lost interest and inspiration, WRAP UP. Don’t leave your readers hanging for a year. I know there were so many things you wanted to explore and so many scenes you wanted to write but if the muse isn’t there, the muse isn’t there. So start wrapping up. Write a chapter about how you wanted the story to go and how you wanted to end it, publish it and mark the story ‘complete’. Then move on. Find something else you love to write about. Maybe, you’ll come back to the story someday.
Don’t sweat the stupid stuff:
“Is my character a Mary Sue?” So what if it is? You’re not going to fictional prison for writing a loved, admired, perfect character. Maybe you are going through a hard time and you need to fantasize. Don’t worry too much. Every freaking writer has written a Mary Sue/Gary Stu in their lifetime and if you’re going through that phase, might as well have fun.
“My characters are acting too OOC?” Unles you are the original writer, your characters will be OOC. Why? Because you are not the original writer. Don’t beat yourself over it.
“Everyone hates what I’m writing!” What if they do? If you enjoyed writing it, fuck them.
“I want reviews and favs and follows but I don’t want to seem greedy.” Ask for it. Every writer wants feedback. That’s why we are publishing it in the world wide web. Wanting to read opinions about what other people think about something you created with love does not make you greedy. It makes you human.
Rick Riordan’s writing tips: Check these out. He is my most favorite author in the world. These are actual writing tips (unlike the shit I posted).
So the basic rules to be million times better at writing: Love what you write. Make sense. Update Regularly. Have Fun.
Thoughts on self-love:
Well, I’m writing a self-love story so might as well share my opinion on it.
I think happiness starts with loving yourself for exactly who you are. No amount of compliments can make you love you. It needs to happen from within. The best thing about that? You are in control. You can love every flaw in yourself. Go and have your own back. Be there for yourself. Be your best friend. You are the love of your life.
Happiness grows when you love others. You don’t need to be loved to be happy. You need to love to be happy. Being loved feels good, but loving feels better. Also, you can’t control how other people feel about you.
When you love yourself and you love others, you can make healthy, safe boundaries. If you just loved yourself, you’d be called “narcissistic” and “selfish”. If you just loved others, you’d be called a “pushover” and “hungry-for-attention” with no sense of self. When you do both, you know what is important to you and what is important to others. But remember the key is to fall in love with yourself first.
