Author has written 12 stories for Harry Potter.
I hate reading stories with bad grammar and continued spelling mistakes! I mean we all make mistakes, and 3-4 chapter is generally fine but more than that and on people's names bug me!
I really, really, really hate when I'm reading a story and I come across the word 'Mom' - as in Ron's mom or things along those lines! English people NEVER EVER call their mother Mom!! Seriously? How do writers not know that?
While I'm on the subject do some research in general! For example in England it's 'boot' not 'trunk', 'Autumn' not 'Fall' and 'Holiday' not 'Vacation'.
I guess the same annoyance can be said for people reading American fanfics to see English words jumping up.
It just drives me insane, and 99% of the time I will immediately stop reading the fic!
I like the characters to be canon, as J.K Rowling made them best!
This said I do like alternative pairings, stories, futures even a new character when written well!
I like a good time travel story too, or ones where Harry has a bit of sense!
I really am NOT a big Dumbledore bashing fan, or Weasley bashing! But have read a few good stories that have both.
Another thing that does not float my boat is slash pairings! Like I said I like it all canon!!
Sorry if this seem like a rant, but well, I guess it's my homepage to do as I like :)
Update: For any Hermione / Sirius shippers, or really just anyone in search for a good story; I really do recommend Mrs J's Soup currently in progress story; One Hundred and Sixty Nine. It's one of the best characterised/most realistic/well written/original pieces of work I've come across for a long time! Not only can I not fault the story, but the author is one of the most reliable and constant updaters I've ever had the pleasure of reading! I mean really ON TOP of the updates - and surprisingly the story never suffers!! So, please give it a read; you can get to it using the link below!!
