Author has written 20 stories for Star Trek: 2009, and StarTrek: The Original Series.
About me: Feminist, Star Trek lover since 1966. Singer, Coast Guard veteran, book lover (mysteries, literature, medical memoirs, biography, socio-political stuff), crossword puzzles, wordplay, needlework, drawing, cartooning, and music.
Liberal. I encourage everyone to continue working progressively for positive change in our country and our world. (Please Vote! Exercise your civic duty and have a voice in your federal and local government.)
Fire the Do-Nothing Conservative Congress in 2014! It's a voting year, for congressmen and senators, and more important than even the Presidential election. The reason I say such an obvious thing is, VERY few voters turn out for the "mid-term" elections. You'll also have local issues and town and city councils and state legislators to vote on. Votes on local councils and representatives and senators in Congress are the most important votes you will cast. These people determine how the budget is set up and how the money will be spent. And government money equals retirement and medical programs, enforcement of civil rights, controls on corporate abuses, regulation of the financial industry, and prevention of abuses by hospitals and other entities [factories dumping waste, public housing contractors buiding on polluted land.]
I cannot say enough how much I want you to vote. Not only because you are intelligent but because your love of Star Trek speaks to something in your character that does not want income, sexual or racial inequality to reduce your fellow humans to miserable circumstances in the US. Get ready to write letters to the editor, blog entries, and to volunteer for your local congressional representative, state senator, or member of your state legislature. Speak your piece before it's too late.
Also, I love cats -- they are living art, and good at the art of living.
DISCLAIMERS: I write fan fiction purely for enjoyment. I make no claims to copyright on any situation or character created by the original copyright holders. All original characters created by me that I insert into those situations, and all "alternate universe" situations based on the original characters/creation [for example, an "alternate universe" outside of that established in ST2009] are my creation and copyright SpockLikesCats.
THANK YOU FOR READING!
I would love it - most fanfic authors love it - if you write a review. Just tell me what you like about the story, and be brief if you want, but try to be specific: "great psychological insight" "I really felt the sense of sorrow/angst/embarrassment." If there's something about the writing in that particular story that bugged you or that you question, either as a fellow author or a discriminating reader, please leave constructive criticism. This means don't tear a sister down; offer me ways I might improve the story or my stories in future; if you let me know how to do better, or what pleases you about my writing, it'll inspire me to do more.
Why no Anonymous reviews? Because I really, really dislike trolls.
CONSISTENCY OF STORYLINES/CHARACTER HISTORIES
Q: "Hey, I read in this one story that character A did this in his fourth/class year at Starfleet Academy. So I thought that was his history. Then in another story he doesn't even meet that person or get into that situation! What's up with that?"
A: I'm exploring different possible "life streams" if you will. If Character A did A and met Z and fell in love, and in the next story Character A did B and met Y and fell in love, with different consequences (a different "history" implied from the events of that particular story), these are two different possibilities for Character A and life decisions/consequences I have explored by writing that particular story.
There are a few of my stories that kind of tie together, but I keep it pretty loose. If you have to know something in one story to understand another, I'll note this at the top of the subsequent story.
