One time when I was driving with my dad I couldn't think of the word Farmlands, so I described the area as "Agricultural Grounds" He thought it was hilarious, and made fun of me for the way I described it for a month.
The other day when I was driving at night a possum ran out in front of me and I slammed on my brakes. Instead of shouting "F-ing Possum" I shouted "F-ing Marsupials!"
I feel like those two instances accurately describe how my brain works. It's not uncommon for me to use the scientific word for things, though I generally avoid to do so in my stories.
