Empty-nester Mom, who after reading the Harry Potter books together, found the Twilight series and became addicted. To satiate said addiction, I discovered Twilight Fanfiction and the rest is history. I'm an avid reader but not a writer. I wish I could write like some of the authors here but that is so not going to happen! :)
Just so you know a little bit about my taste in reading, I'm a major angst-wimp. I've read a few stories that angst was the major genre but I soon discovered that I don't care for those types of stories. I enjoy romance stories and can endure a realistic bout of angst. Now, I know that tolerance is individualistic. What you will find here (for the most part in my favs) are stories with romance with a tolerable amount of angst with a total HEA. Isn't that what every gal wants? (lol) ;)
So many of my favorites have been removed (either P2P or without their consent), this is "how it is" on this particular website because "they" choose to manipulate the authors & their stories here. I'm an active reader - so what you will find here are stories that update or are completed. I would suggest following some of the other websites listed below. They are sites that allow an author to express their talents freely; as well as, allowing the readers to have the same freedom.
Have y'all heard of FLAG? Check it out. You can download all your favorite stories in whatever format you wish. Copy & Paste the following:
PLEASE NOTE - AS OF 10/22/13:
FFNET / FICTIONPRESS SUPPORT DISABLED
As you may be aware, FLAG's grabber has recently been unable to connect to fanfiction.net / fictionpress.com. I have attempted to contact them repeatedly over the last couple of weeks, and after a significant number of FLAG's users also contacted them on my behalf, I have finally received a reply from them.
Regrettably, that reply requests that I disable FLAG's support for those sites. I have complied with this request for now, and would like to to negotiate some kind of compromise that will allow FLAG to continue working with both fanfiction.net and fictionpress.com, however at this point they don't seem particularly amenable to such an arrangement. I requested written permission from them before launching the service back in 2008, so their request to disable support is a sudden and dramatic reversal of their previous position - in the past, they have always been happy to allow FLAG to operate.
I would very much appreciate it if you could please contact them viaor and request that they continue to allow FLAG to support ebook conversions of stories hosted on their sites. You were all wonderful in pressuring them to finally respond to my emails, and it is my hope that a big enough show of support will help convince them to reverse their recent decision.
PLEASE SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR THIS SITE. IT SEEMS THAT FF IS DOING IT'S BEST TO COMPLETELY ALIENATE IT'S USERS.
Looking for more rec's? Here is one of my favorite websites that I frequent for recommended stories. It's a fun website and they have weekly rec's. (No registration required.)
And here is another great website for past & present Twilight rec's:
Censorship - why do "individuals" feel that they have the right to suppress freedom of speech?
Perhaps, they are threatened? "They" think that they have no control?
It's interesting since the freedoms that OUR loved ones have died for to SECURE our liberties in the USA - that "others" try to usurp.
Everyone has a CHOICE about what they read. If parents are not actively in touch with their "children", then one wonders what they are doing with their time. Unsupervised? On the internet? hmmmmm - so WHY would parents let their children be on the internet UNSUPERVISED?
It's unfortunate that we live in a society that constantly wishes those with differing points-of-view to be censored. And unfortunately, this happens ALL the time. The needs of the few out weigh the MANY.
Several authors have chosen to post their works on other websites due to the nanny state that exists here on ff. Here are just a few to check out:
