where I will ramble about my HZGG fanfic progress and post my over-long , as well as post nostalgia-filled photos.
I am twenty-ish, and have been writing fanfiction since my early teens, and while the early attempts are still on this website somewhere, I will not embarrass myself by telling you the pen-name.
These days I write fanfic mostly for( ), arguably the show that launched my current tendency to become obsessed with fictional stories and characters. I write primarily for this fandom because while there are many other stories stay with me for a long time, by merit of the age of the show, it is the story that had captured me for (by now) over half my life. Even before I discovered the internet, and learnt there was an (English-language) audience for this show/fanfiction of, I find myself getting lost in this world with many ideas for fanfics. I guess I'm just putting all those out now.
As with any writer, I love feedback and hearing from readers. So if you can spare the time, please review and send messages. I do try to reply to as many as possible. Also, feel free to point out mistakes in my writing, from typos to pinyin mistakes that I am incapable of picking up myself because I actually don't speak/read/write Chinese (my research for HZGG involves a lot of cross-searching in Baidu, Google, Google Translate and Han-Viet dictionary...).
I will try to finish all long fics that I start, even if it takes me years to do so. If fics have not been updated for a long time, I will just say that it's on hiatus. On a very long hiatus. *cough*ThePrinceandMe*cough.
I will, occasionally, dabble in other fandoms that at any given time capture my very easily distracted mind. While I have a long-time love affair with fandoms like Harry Potter and Pride and Prejudice, the chances of my writing for them is very thin since there are many in those fandoms who can write better than I can, and I'll just be the reader instead.
Narnia holds a special place in my heart: when I was in the last years of high school, one of the requirements for the program I was doing was to write a 4000-word research essay on any subject (kudos to those who recognise this curriculum). I was then introduced to the Narnia books by one of my favourite teachers who suggested I write the essay comparing Narnia and Harry Potter (because Pride and Prejudice, and classics in general, was "done too many times before"). I then spent the better part of a year on this essay and have been in love with this world ever since. Having said that, after the essay was over and I find myself immersed in the world of Narnia fanfiction, I realised that I understood really very little of the series when I wrote that essay and the fandom taught me so much more.
For in Calormen, story-telling (whether the stories are true or made up) is a thing you're taught, just as English boys and girls are taught essay-writing. The difference is that people want to hear the stories, whereas I never heard of anyone who wanted to read the essays.
