Hello, I’m Brianna!
There was a time in my life where I disliked myself very much. I didn't want to look in the mirror because I didn't like what I saw. I was confused about what I wanted and who I wanted to be. I had obsessive tendencies that I didn't understand. I was a perfectionist and an overachiever.
Writing became my way of reconnecting with the parts of me that I did not hate. Writing a poem, a short story or a full novel made me feel helpful, creative and proud. Writing in my journal helped me to remember my good qualities, to celebrate happy feelings, the bright spots in my day, and to dream. I remember scribbling in my journal, eight years ago at age fourteen. I made a picture of me as a grown up woman, strong, beautiful, smiling and happy, with long, flowing, black hair, super-cool sunglasses, a black business suit (essential, for some reason!) and books all around me. I wrote in the margins: Published author. Lawyer. Owner of a bakery. Owner of an Animal Sanctuary. True love.
Who I am today:
I am happy with who I am. I love myself and often gaze in the mirror just to see a new feature that I love. No longer am Iconfused about who I want to be. I know who I am and I know what I want. No one told me who to be or what to want, that was something I had to discover on my own. I understand my obsessive tendencies much better now and I have come to realize that there is absolutely nothing wrong with being obsessed with something. A little obsession is healthy. I obsess over television shows, books, characters, movies, various things, and there is not a single thing wrong with that. I’m still a perfectionist and an overachiever, but there is nothing wrong with that either. However it is a valuable lesson to learn that nothing is ever going to be perfect so it’s important to always do your very best, and be happy with that.
Things I adore:

There are so many ways to open your heart, heal old wounds, hurts, and carry your life in the direction that you want. For me, it’s always been writing. Maybe for you, it’s dancing, painting, deep conversations with friends, meditation, soaking in a hot tub, or simply making a plan and devoting yourself to it with your whole heart. Marching, marching. Moving ever-closer to who you want to be and where you want to go. But the best advice I can give to you is this:
-Don’t stop, wherever you are, whatever you’re going through, DO NOT stop, keeping going, because you will make it through.
-Be passionate about whatever you do, because things that lack passion are boring.
-Don’t let anyone tell you you’re not beautiful just the way you are because trust me, you are absolutely gorgeous!
-Do your best in everything you try to do, and once you’re done, be happy with what you've done because you will know that you did your best.
-Don’t be afraid to go after what you want.
