Well, after so long, I have finally changed my penname. So long, QueenOfTheButterflies, you will always be missed. ~R.I.P.~
From my new penname –PsychoticSax- I’m sure that you can tell that I’m a saxophone player. Alto, but really, if you can play one sax, you can play them all. :3 I’m also a band nerd, hence the next section on my profile titled BAND. It also explains the change in penname. :)
I’ve been in band since the sixth grade (when I was eleven). Before you join band, you go through instrument testing. I went in there wanting to play the saxophone. I got tested on different instruments. Brass = Not My Thing. Flute = Not My Thing (but I’m now learning it). I could have played percussion. Or clarinet. Or even better… SAXOPHONE(: Those were my three best. I’m guessing that you know which one I choose. ;D So I got my sax, and throughout middle school, I played to my heart’s content. Then I went to high school, and I joined marching band. Probably one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I love marching. *hearts* I’ve started practicing every day. I know eight out of twelve major scales (as a freshman), which is more than we’ve gotten to in class. I’m starting to learn blues scales, and then I’ll work my way through jazz scales. I can play Can You Feel the Love Tonight? on my sax, and it’s BEAUTIFUL. Some people, like my friend Kayci, don’t like the sax sound, but I love it.
Lately, my sax has been… well, psychotic. Sometimes she plays. Sometimes she doesn’t. She’s on and off with notes, and it’s just… frustrating. I got it fixed by a repairman, but she’s still finky. Hence my band teacher saying, “Andrea, is your sax working today? I know it’s been… Well, you’ve just got a PsychoticSax.” And BOOM – new penname. (:
I’m learning how to play the flute from my friend Christy, a flute/piccolo player. In return, I’m teaching her how to play the sax. Right now, I can play about… five or six scales on the flute? High notes are difficult. Bleh. I can play a little piccolo. Not much. :P Alright. Well. I’m sure that’s enough band talk for now. :D
I'm going to Disney on October 31st! Bahh! I don't get back until the fifth! But I'm taking my laptop with me, so if you review, send me messages, come out with a new story, etc..., then I'll still be able to check up/respond! I just probably won't be writing. I'm such a loser. xD
BTW, I'm going to Disney for marching band... ;D Shocker, huh?
Bah! I haven't been on in forever. :3 My bad... xD ANYWAYS. :D Ahh, marching season is ALMOST over (except for a Christmas Parade...), and that means... BASKETBALL SEASON! :D xD Baha. *Band Nerd* :P Also, I'm REALLY aspiring to be in my school's Symphonic Band (even though I'm a puny litte freshman - bleh). We just got the etude (non-band nerds - basically some music with all sorts of technical stuff) that I'll be auditioning with today. We're kicking each other's butt's fairly evenly. *smug face*
So you know what's kinda cool? My band teacher has asked me if I'd learn the baritone/euphonium and march it next year. The only problem? He asked a month ago, and I STILL DON'T HAVE MY EUPHONIUM. But some other alto - BoBo, as I shall nickname him - asked some RANDOM BAND SENIOR and got the LAST ONE WE HAD. And he DOESN'T EVEN WANT IT FOR MARCHING PURPOSES. *explodes* So I *MIGHT* get to borrow one from a middle school. Why is he so much more socially accepted than I am? *falls into coughing fit - because I have bronchitus xD - and dies dramatically*
Anyways. Now that that's over (not), I think I'm good. :D
WHAT IS WITH ALL THESE BETA READERS!??!?! I've been looking for a beta reader for Star Trek: Voyager, and I've been having a horrible time at it. I mean, the ones who claim to be good at grammar don't have good grammar, and the ones who claim to be spellers can't even SPELL grammar. It's G-R-A-M-M-*A*-R, *NOT* *E*-R. Ok? -.- Bah, sorry about the rant. Anyways, I'm in search of a beta for Voyager. I'm mostly looked for someone who's good with characterization (my current focus), knows enough about grammar to fix any mistakes I make, and can offer up a spice in sentence variety/word choice. IF YOU ARE THIS PERSON OR KNOW THIS PERSON, PLEASE CONTACT ME!
You know what's really weird? It's December TWENTIEST (will somebody get me a spell check on that, please? xD) and I'm more excited about going back to school in a week or so than I am about Christmas. You know why? Well, not that you probably want to, but... I'll tell you anyways! :D On Wednesday before Christmas Break, we had band auditions to choose our placements this semester in band... There's Concert Band (which is pretty much for the people who either don't care or haven't developed enough skill - or REALLY bombed their auditions), Symphonic Band (the band that consists of top notch players) and Wind Ensemble (which is the top notch of the top notch). So I was thinking... "God, I hope I do NOT get stuck in Concert Band. Since their are only, like, two altos in Wind Ensemble - both places which will be filled by people who are not me - then I really hope I make it into Symphonic... And that I beat Bobo."
Then I was informed that there would probably be up to four altos in Wind Ensemble, but I still wasn't sure. Then, when we got out official band placement, I was SUPER excited. You know why? I made second chair Wind Ensemble! I mean, there were four altos, but even if there were only two, I would have still made it! :D I am obviously far more awesome than I think I am! Plus, Bobo is in Symphonic... *uncalled for and probably very conceited snicker* How cool am I!?
Few things in life are as perfect as the saxophone.
Happiness is a shiny saxophone.
I believe the correct term is 'saxiness'.
You're just jealous of my saxophone.
Eat. Sleep. Sax.
I'd rather be playing my sax.
There are two kinds of people in the world. Sax players are better than both of them.
Theory of Evolution: percussion, brass, sax.
...do you guys NOT see how sax obsessive I am? ;D
I'm obsessing over Castle right now. It's a major obsession. Almost as big as my sax one. :O Baha, anyways... :D I've only written two drabble, neither of which are very excellent but are out there, nonetheless. I'm working on a longer story, but I've yet to work myself back up to multi-chapter stuff. I just can't seem to stay with it; it's not really my thing. :O
Best video ever(:
Hey! It's Star Trek: Voyager obsession time now... I'm thinking about a variety of AUs I could do.. Also, since I'm not writing music scores, I believe that I can make my own original and amazing Janeway/Chakotay music videos. Cool, huh? They'll probably mostly consist of woodwinds - flutes, oboes, clarinets, saxes, etc... - because frankly, I just adore the woodwind sound. I'll post the links on here if I actually do! :D
1. If you can guess my FAVORITE song (hint, it's sax heavy - pretty much no lyrics), I'll write a Castle drabble for you!
2. Bleh. Ok, that's (^) technically my SECOND favorite song. My first one has the following words: "Jealousy, sea, lullabies, alibies, price, destiny, eager"
MORE COMING LATER… :D
