Author has written 5 stories for Twilight, and Harry Potter.
I've always hated writing a profile for a site. You don't want to sound like someone who's full of themselves, always tooting their own horn, patting themselves on the back. Saying, Oh gosh! Lookie here how great I think I am!! Yeah...no. Then again, you don't want people to read your profile and think that it'd be more entertaining to go watch paint dry or grass grow. So you have to struggle with finding the proper balance between being Paris Hilton and the dude who kept saying "Bueller...Bueller..."...you get the idea.
So...what do you want to know? I'm old. No, not that old. No...not that young, either. Let's just say I'm old enough to remember black and white tv, but young enough to have actually used computers while in school. Now, while I have a degree in accounting, I don't consider myself an accountant, per say. I refuse to define myself by what I do for a living. People are dynamic, always growing and shifting, and I strive to be the very definition of this.
So, let's do this facebook style:
3 Words That Describe Me: Dynamic, Eclectic, Resourceful
3 Things I Currently Obsess Over: Robert Pattinson, Twilight, Robert Pattinson (I know...I know!)
3 Things I Would Rather Be Doing: Having a cup of coffee, sleeping, eatting a BigMac
3 Places I Would Rather Be: On a Beach, DisneyWorld, At a Concert
3 Musical Artists I Adore: Eric Clapton, Nat King Cole, The Ramones
3 Actors I heart: Bruce Willis, Hugh Jackman, Tom Selleck (bet you thought I was going to say Robert Pattinson. you did, didn't you? haha!!)
3 TV Shows I Never Miss: Psych, LOST, Dancing With the Stars
3 Movies I Quote the Most: Breakfast Club, Steel Magnolias, Young Frankenstein
3 Things That Scare Me: That New Moon won't be very good, the late Soupy Sales, the Delaware Memorial Bridge
So...how was that for a profile? :D
Dear Constant Reader...
I've always loved it when Stephen King started his notes to his readers with that old Victorian greeting. It kind of butters up the reader, no? LOL
I'm actually writing to you today to thank you for your patience. Perhaps I should amend the greeting to be "Dear Patient Constant Reader". I do appreciate everyone who is reading this story for both reading it and for sticking with it these last long six months. Due to things both beyond and within my control, I have alternately lost and found my muse. My muse is a fickle beast. He comes and goes, like most men I suppose. But with my issues with my mothers ongoing convalescence, I find that he's increasingly jealous that he's not the only being vying for my attention. He likes to pop in and give me inspiration when I least have the time to follow through...or when exhaustion is threatening to overtake my consciousness.
I will tell you that I am working on the next chapter, which will likely be the last, followed by an epilogue (which is already written...in my noggin LOL) After that, I have several new stories "in the works" as they say. My muse is also easily distracted...
So, dear Constant Reader, a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you. I promise to try to wrangle my muse and make him cooperate. He's a slippery little sucker!!
Dearest Patient Constant Reader...
/Here's the deal. I was working on my next chapter...seriously working on it...until 3am Thursday morning. I saved, shut down and went to bed. I wake up, do some chores around the house, and decided to turn on Happy Mac (which is what I call my 4 year old MacBook Pro) before lunch. And...nothing. I think "oh, maybe I didn't hit the button as hard as I thought I did?" So I hit it again. Aaaannnndddd...nothing. I try two, three, four even five times...still nothing. So, I call the Apple store and make an appointment to see the wonderful Genius of Mac later that evening. Genius I get is really a nice guy, you know. Sorta older than the kids who generally work in the store. Maybe a little balding. Maybe he's an out of work IT Tech dude? Who knows. He's just a nice little man. He feels for me, because I tell him how Happy Mac is really my best friend. And he tells me he sees how well loved Happy Mac is, just by the pristine condition he remains in. Yes, I take very good care of my friends. He runs his little diagnostics and...my logic board is dead. D-E-A-D. All my pictures. My iTunes. And all of my documents. All are on it. Happy Mac is no longer happy. He's sad. Sad Mac.
Saturday I'll be bringing Sad Mac to have his data (hopefully) recovered. I really hope this is possible, since I have the next chapter of Bella is a Punk Rocker on it, as well as FOUR other fics I've been working on! Once that's been done, Sad Mac will then be sent back to Apple to have himself transformed back into Happy Mac for the tidy sum of $310.00.
So...where does this leave us, dear patient Constant Reader? Well, once I get some inspiration back, I will try to replicate the chapter I was working on on this...this borrowed Lenovo ideapad. It's nice..but it's not Happy Mac.
I just ask you to bear with me a little longer...just until my life stops sounding like a country song...
Dear Sainted Patient Constant Reader...
Well, Happy Mac is still at the doctors. Due to Hurricane Irene and a holiday weekend, I was delayed in bringing it in. It's been a week now and no word. I'm hoping against hope that no news is indeed good news and they've been able to recover my hard drive. I'm hoping to hear some time this week from them.
Until the return of my beloved companion, I am stuck using my parents Lenovo laptop. It's not a bad laptop...it's just not MY Mac with MY stuff on it...stuff like MY WRITING!
Good news is that this won't happen again. That is because they will be installing an external hard drive once the repair to the Mac is done, and they will also be programming regular backups for the external hard drive. That way, everything will be backed up and I won't be at the mercy of IT Techs.
Once again, I thank you for your patience...hopefully there will be a light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully...it won't be an oncoming train...
Dear Beloved, Sainted Patient Constant Reader...
I come bearing exciting news...or...news with the potential to be exciting!
The computer place called today. Happy Mac is back from Apple and ready to be picked up! When I asked if the hard drive was recovered, he said yes...but...he sounded a tad confused. So, I am holding off on excitement until I have Happy Mac back in my grubby little hands and can see for myself that, indeed, the next chapter of BIAPR is intact (along with the 4 or 5 other stories I've been working on!)
NOW I will have an external hard drive, along with a regularly scheduled back up to that external hard drive, thus, hopefully, avoiding a situation like this in the future.
I will let you know what I discover when I pick up Happy Mac tomorrow afternoon! In the mean time, please keep fingers, toes and anything else that you can cross, crossed!!
Thank you for your patience with me during these last six months...I really do appreciate it :)
Dear Beloved Sainted Patient Constant Reader...
That's right! I'm posting this update from HAPPY MAC!! Not only is Happy Mac working again...but...THEY RECOVERED MY ENTIRE HARD DRIVE!! I'M LOOKING AT THE NEXT CHAPTER OF BIAPR RIGHT NOW!!!!
Bear with me while I finish the chapter and get it posted. I now need to get back in the swing of things. I'm hoping it won't be too much longer now!
Thanks so much for being so kind and patient during what has been a very difficult past few months for me. I do appreciate it very, very much.
