Hello! My name is Michelle, or BoredStupid100, or Bored (but definitely not Stupid). As you can see, I am a HUGE fan of Alvin and the Chipmunks, having grown up with the 80s and 60s cartoons in my childhood. I have been an active member of the fandom since 2008, and am still going strong today. You may know me from deviantArt, where I post a lot of fanart. You can check out my dA page here.
I am 22 years old, and am majoring in Illustration. I’ve always dreamed of working for Disney, or making my own children’s books. Disney movies and many other animated shows have helped influence my style. I consider myself a child at heart, and I adore cute and innocent things, candy and sweets, toys, cartoons, bright colors, and all that good stuff. My hobbies consist of anything that stimulates my creativity, such as reading, writing, drawing, watching movies and TV shows, playing video games, and looking at others’ artwork.
Though I may not be the best of writers, I do enjoy writing fanfiction and coming up with story ideas. I think fanfiction is a great outlet for beginning writers who want to hone their skills in storytelling. I have written many drafts for AatC stories, but I only publish those I deem worthy of publishing. I tend to be a perfectionist, so finishing a story and being satisfied with it is a hard thing for me to do. Another thing I like about fanfiction is that it’s an exercise in world expanding and character development. We as fans have stories to tell that the official writers of the show haven’t explored yet, and it’s amazing the kinds of things people write in their fanfics.
So that’s why I’m here. I love reading others’ works, and writing my own. I hope you guys enjoy my stories as much as I’ve enjoyed yours.
My favorite character in AatC is Theodore, because he is the one I can relate to the most. He is childlike and innocent, naïve, sweet, sensitive, fearful, optimistic, and loves food. I find him easiest to write about because of how much I understand his character. There is also a lot of opportunity in fanfics to develop his character, discover hidden depths, have him overcome his obstacles in life, and take him to places and situations he’s never been. Of course, this can apply to any character, but for Theodore I see a lot of opportunity for that. So expect many of my stories to be focused on him.
Yes, I am a hardcore shipper as well. If I’m writing romance stories, they are going to be about the canon couples, Alvittany, Simonette, and Theonor. Alvittany is the most entertaining couple in my opinion, and is also my favorite. They have a contentious love/hate relationship where they often act annoyed and despising of each other, but have their occasional tender moments that are all the sweeter. Simonette and Theonor are also adorable, and are perfectly compatible because of their shared hobbies and complementary personalities.
Even more than shipping, I just love stories that are about family bonding and friendships. Simple stories about the three brothers sharing a moment together are enough to warm my heart and make me gush like a fangirl. I see the family and friend relationships as a main theme of the franchise, so I like to apply it to my own stories as well.
My stories are set in the 80s cartoon continuity by default. The reason is because I am most familiar with the cartoon, and I have a personal nostalgic attachment to them that I don’t have with the other versions. Additionally, The Alvin Show doesn’t have much material to go by, and the live-action movies I’ve only seen once each. However, that’s not to say I won’t explore the other continuities as well. I’ll probably have the occasional fanfic that is set in The Alvin Show or CGI universes.
