![]() Author has written 2 stories for Naruto, and Star Citizen. Hello there, visitor. This is my profile, so here are written some things about me and the things that I am doing. I write about stuff. Sometimes I post it too. One of my dearest ambitions is for one of my works to eventually get a page on TVTropes - I'm odd like that. I used to have other dearest ambitions too, but lately they've already been fulfilled. My profile is maybe old, and I have been writing fiction since 2012, but I haven't published anything publicly before I posted the first two chapters of this thing I've been working on for a very long time. Currently I'm writing a story. It is the first volume in a planned trilogy of three, currently estimated to end up around half a million words in total length. The story features Haruno Sakura as a first person main character in a heavily AU Naruto world. You will find that things have changed - things that you are used to just ignoring in Naruto canon. It is a world where relativity is a thing and the laws of thermodynamics exist. A world that has a history thousands of years old, and where the continent of the elemental nations is only one place out of many. A world where heroes don't always win, villains don't always lose, and the governments regularly employ what are arguably child soldiers. A world where genin graduate at fifteen, not twelve, and where the ninja establishment and education is actually competent, where ANBU is not a joke, and where Konoha graduates hundreds of students a year. In short, it is my attempt at a somewhat rational and realistic take on the classic Naruto universe. It is my third (and final) attempt at a Naruto story, and the one that I will definitely finish, however long it takes. The first version I started on a casual exploratory whim based on a discussion with a friend: "What if Sasuke had been a girl (you can perhaps extrapolate the nature of our discussion from that idea) and befriended Naruto early on after the massacre?" It developed into a 140.000 word story which I broke off when inconsistencies in canon began to really get in my way and I wrote myself into a corner, plot-wise, because I hadn't planned ahead well enough. During this story it became apparent that Sakura was definitely my main character, largely (I think) due to the influence of me having read Time Braid and absolutely loving it. I started on another fic with the same basic premise, intending to be a bit more sensible about things, changing the parts of canon that just didn't work, and with a more refined and pre-planned plot. This quickly tanked about 20.000 words in, when I realized that it simply wasn't enough. So I sat down and started thinking and planning for real. The overall plot I had in mind had grown from a small hunch of "something-like-this-I-think" to a rather huge construct that I wanted to see through, even if it was just for my own sake. I wanted to write that ending, and the story which preceded it. So I sat down and wrote 50.000 words of lore and world building and plot before I even started this time around. These are things like various character backgrounds, thoughts on how the "magic/chakra" mechanics work, thoughts on the history of various parts of the world, how the political systems function, how technological development is progressing and how that changes things, bits of random lore, newspaper articles, book excerpts, magazines, various records, and so on in that vein. First then did I set out to write the story itself. As I write, I keep adding more to this haphazard database of updated and adapted lore. I am not done writing the story yet - not even close - but I'm working on it, and am now actively updating every two weeks on sunday. I hope you'll enjoy reading the story. I am certainly enjoying writing it. I found all the betas I was looking for. Thank you to everyone who offered their help - I got far more offers than I ever anticipated. |
