Author has written 10 stories for Prince of Tennis, StarTrek: The Original Series, Naruto, Discworld, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, and Sherlock.
Hey guys. If you're reading this, my thanks for being so interested. I'm fairly new to fanfic, but am finding this a lot more fun than a) working on one of the novels I'm sure will earn me millions one day, b) finding a job or c) other stuff my parents think I need to sort out.
-Update- when I started using the site I got over-excited and started some stories I didn't have an end for yet. This is being sorted, one story at a time. Apologies for the mega-hiatus this and my laziness have caused.
I am very definitely a Christian, but not the sort that flames you for writing slash and the like.
I don't tend to write fanfic about those works of fiction that I adore the most. This is mostly because I feel that if something so close to literary perfection can exist, then my clumsy attempts to add to it must be something akin to desecration. What I write about, therefore, are those books or series that have set sparks flying in my imagination, often because the characters created have, for me, a life beyond the narrow confines of their story, and I long to give them a new story to stretch in. That's probably why my fic doesn't tend to be main character/protagonist focussed. I figure, they already have their story, right? and although it's often cool to expand on that, I like to give the best non-principal characters a story of their own.
Note: This philosophy is becoming increasingly eroded as I think of cool things(in my own head, anyway) to write to do with my favorite stuff. I have so far resisted the urge to mess with Fruits Basket. That was an amazing manga.
I'd say my main flaw is that my fic tends to begin as a personal fantasy, something that I play out in the confines of my own head, for my own enjoyment, and therefore never really needed more than dream logic (I could just skip to the good bits). Then when I come to make it into a story I find that I have to somehow make it all make sense without bringing the characters ooc.
Well, that was a bit of a ramble. But if you sat through it I guess you really were interested. Cool beans.
If anyone is interested I love Terry Pratchett's stuff and am impressed at the level of some of the Fanfic- Virtuella springs to mind.
I also love Prince of Tennis, Naruto, Star Trek, Doctor Who and Sherlock Holmes, and am impressed by a lot of Harry Potter fanfic. There are many more that I could add, but I think We'd both be bored by the end of that one.
As a final aside- sometimes a strong friendship is just that. You'd be amazed how often this happens. I think that that bond of friendship can be stronger than a bond of physical attraction, personally.
