I am Asa.
AIM's AsaLostar (Come at me, bros!)
My birthdate is September 8th, 1985, and I am an African American male. I can be over-analytical of things, and I am into too many things to list off the top of my head.
What you should be seeing from my fictions are zany and offbeat ideas.
That is where my tastes lie - therefore, my tastes in anime and video games are also zany and offbeat.
Angel Beats, Haruhi Suzumiya, Azumanga Daioh, Ranma 1/2, Cardcaptor Sakura are examples of anime.
Video games? I'm a Nintendo-head; that should explain a lot. I also play Maple Story (Bera FTW!) and
My currently largest (and completed) work is "The Gamma Dimension," followed by "The God I Once Knew," which is the first (and currently) only crossover between Haruhi & Angel Beats and Haruhi Suzumiya series! "Haruhi GD," is the supposed sequel to "The Gamma Dimension!" If you knew that already, chances are you read my notice and came here. As for the reason why I sent you here, there are a few things I should say about this sequel, which also ties in to the ending of the first story (Chapter Nightfall). I don't know who was confused by the first act's ending, but my first journal entry will be dedicated towards explaining as much as possible!

Alright! If there's anything that should be remembered about the light novels when reading late into "The Gamma Dimension," it is the first story in the Eight Novel: Editor in Chief: Straight Ahead! This was the story that introduced the Student Council President. In addition, this was the chapter where most of the SOS Brigade composed a publication to distribute throughout the school for the sake of preserving the SOS Brigade. You following so far? Now then, a fair amount of some of these ideas that I'm exercising has a good deal to do with the series of passages that Yuki Nagato has written.
That weird passage that Yuki has written always interested me. And as far as the third part of that writing is concerned, this is what inspired the OC(s) that you will wind up seeing in 'Haruhi GD'. If you caught onto this without me opening my trap, then pat yourself on the back and accept this cyber cookie! (this would also mean that my writing style isn't as incoherent as I feared! Woo!)
On another note, it gives me pleasure to announce that this time around, I have taken the effort to prepare an extensive outline for what I wish to do with this story. What that means is that I do have more-or-less a complete plot pre-planned for this because we know how painful it is to have stories far more epic than mine spend an eternity incomplete. This first season has a total of six lengthy stories to hit the surface, and each of them has their own flavor. I'll go in details to them as they come. But for now, all I got to say is stay tuned for future installments!
Entry #2: 10/30/2011
Unfortunately, this entry is going to be a bit brief for a number of reasons. The main reason is that my ISP has been down for a little over a week. As of right now, I am using a fast food restaurant's WiFi to update my Haruhi/Angel Beats crossover and make this entry. I'm glad to be able to dish out chapter 13 today! And just so you all know, this story is getting ever-so-closer to the end. And just like the twelfth installment, there is a significant amount of action in this one.. I may have a few typos in this chapter simply because I have yet to have a second proofreader for this, so my apologies if there's a lot wrong with it.
To tell everyone the truth, I've been somewhat down in the dumps since early September for a few personal reasons including an old friend of mine, but my recovery phase seems to have concluded and I'm more-or-less back to normal starting with this update! I was sort of annoyed today before uploading this because I cannot seem to find out how to do line breaks on the FF.net engine anymore. I may have to find out a way to do that before uploading it to the engine.. but anyways...
There's a bit of bad news for Haruhi GD: The next installment for that story is going to be a little delayed because I wound up changing my mind on a plot-point on that extensive outline I mentioned in my last entry. It turns out that one of the character development plans I had for Haruhi (the character) was very flawed.. as it would have been driven the plot too far from the canon. Not only that, but I did not have any major follow-ups to that supposed development notion. As for what that was, I'm sure the plot twist has been conceived before... a circumstance that leads to Haruhi finding out that the people around her are actually the people that she was looking for... The time may come when that realization actually goes down, but my rough outline scheduled it to happen much earlier than necessary without a clear motive to create that plot-point. Once I realized that, I determined I have to redo the synopsis for the 2nd installment to "Haruhi GD." So the story is down until I figure out what I'm going to do instead.
Alright, looks like my company is getting restless, so I will be cutting it from here. Here's to hoping my next entry will be considerably more interesting!
Entry #3 11/15/2011
I will start this entry off with a confession: Lately, a lot of my potential writing time has been absorbed in an addicting game called
For those of you that want to play the game with someone like me, my online handle is 'Starfish Fuko'. For those of you that already know about the game, you most likely caught the reference used in the Angel Beats/Haruhi chapter 14 installment. This random scene was a board-game style battle between Anivia and Annie! I hope at least one person got a kick out of that.
Anyways, about that announcement I hinted at, here it is: I am soon going to start yet another Haruhi crossover project that I actually feel strongly confident about doing! Be on the lookout, prepare yourselves and defend your Nexus!
Entry #4 11/23/2011
So "The God I Once Knew is finally completed. The ending I chose for this was pretty much planned the day that this story was conceived, but of course this ending would have been significantly different if I completed this short story as soon as I thought I would have... I couldn't really tell you whether or not that's a good thing.
So maybe I should take a moment to explain this ending just in case it didn't make much sense. The contents of the Epilogue wasn't truly important to the main story.. it was basically a mock scenario of simple ideas that could happen if AB & Haruhi characters were to merge together. I figured that I'd do something like that because this crossover only included two characters from the Angel Beats series, which might have come across some as a disappointment. So yeah... it's pretty much one of those bittersweet... happily ever after... reset... thingies. Now for the real 'ending' which was the 'Finale' before it...
I was going for something emotionally sound. Whether or not I did a good job at that is up to you.. I hope at least the Yuri segment of the finale made sense... as for the whole deal with Kaya, I can try to explain a couple of things..
I guess you can say that out of all the characters in this story, the only character that can be considered an OC is 'Kaya,' who was mentioned in Chapter 4 and came to surface in Chapter 9. After the latter chapter's confusion, the Nagato body gained a new soul, which is similar to (but not quite like) the Nagato depicted in the Disappearance Movie. Her backstory deals largely with Kyon's past life and serves as a catalyst that helps push this story to its inevitable end. That and it was my solution to create a connection between her and Kanade, since without a more-or-less 'whole' character, having Nagato perform major storyline advances would be much more difficult. It may not have been the best approach, but at least I did not completely disregard her original character in the earlier half of the story. (It sucks when people do that..)
Well anyways yeah... this crossover project is completed with it being the Angel Beats Crossover with the highest reviews and the third highest reviewed Angel Beats based fiction on the site. I didn't think the story would get that far, so I am really grateful for this. At this point, I could only hope that the ending to this didn't disappoint ya'll too badly!
Oh and one more thing... if I do ever make another AB/Haruhi crossover, one thing should be noted: The template I used for the epilogue will NOT be the way I will kick off its potential sequel. I would be more likely to have the Nakamura siblings as siblings for one thing. I think I'd have a lot more fun doing something like that!
Well anyways, that's it for now! Feel free to drop a line either through PM or Story Review! I said it before in the Epilogue and I'll say it again. Have a great Thanksgiving and Happy Holidays!

On another note... I've been watching a lot more anime recently. Two of them are likely to influence the character development approaches I have planned for Asakura. For the first one, I rewatched Toradora mostly because 'Ami Kawashima from that series captivated me, and I wanted to remind myself why. If anyone noticed, there was a subtle reference to her in this chapter.
As for the other series... it's Bakemonogatari/Nisemonogatari. It took me a long time to get into the series, and I personally feel as though the sequel is a really fun and provocative payoff for a really unique and impressive series. Just like Kawashima inspired my development approach from her series, Senjougahara inspires me from this one! I haven't exercised exactly how yet, but if I successfully pull off a feel that resembles this series, chances are, it's not a coincidence!
Anyways, that's it for now. Thanks for stopping by!
Entry #6 - 4/11/2012
This time I waited until the day after publishing the latest chapter to write up this entry. The reasoning? I was tired, and finally getting that chapter the way I wanted it took forever. Since you're here, today I would like to discuss why 'Flailing Through Sleep Part 1' took so long to write. I think it's a relatively interesting story!
In the earliest writing phases of this fiction, I decided that the plot would be: Kyon wakes up to the strangest and most detailed dream that he reports to the SOS Brigade and Haruhi goes through overblown matters to investigate it. What made the plot interesting on my end is this fact. I too started investigating what this dream would have meant only after I conceived it. By using the "Dream Moods," website, I looked up what each component of the dream would have meant. So Naru's description was based on actual results of my research involving that dream. In short, I made up a bizarre dream, interpreted it later and discovered that the meaning behind it is extremely relevant to the past, present, and future events in this story. I didn't thoroughly discuss every component of the dream yet -- such as the carrot, the steamroller and the color black.. I'll get to that next time!
So yeah, that process took long and it all blended in with a small writer's block I was hit by as well. I knew I wanted Haruhi to initiate the investigation of this dream, but finding out how was also a difficult task to me. The answer came to me when I did a thorough research on the purpose of Japanese omamori. I learned a lot in that research and perhaps I could pass some of that knowledge down to the readers. That would be the ideal outcome anyways.
That chapter clocked in at about 5k words. It's one of the longer chapters I've written and one of the most difficult ones at that. I anticipate that the other two parts to this segment won't be nearly as hard. Regardless, I'm pretty proud at how it turned out. But as usual, I am a little worried on how effectively I expressed these ideas to the masses. Be sure to let me know what you think if you have the time! Begging for reviews is kinda silly, but feedback does tend to help me out quite a bit!
