“If your name becomes associated with vampire fanfiction, the ridicule factor is gonna be hard to beat.”
The most important thing you should know about me is that I may not update for months and even years at a time, but unless I leave a formal goodbye message I will continue and complete my stories come hell or high water (save, of course, the ones I think are bad, which will eventually be redone or deleted). If you like one of my unfinished tales, just keep an eye out.

Newsflash: I may have - may have - found the time to start writing and updating again. Gee, wouldn't that be nice?! (grammar defender i miss u)
Words. Can’t live with ‘em, can’t live without ‘em. I think of the English language like an obnoxious family member. I love it, but I don’t blame others for hating it. It’s full of strange conjugations and weird spellings and just plain.
For example, the pronoun “I” has its own conjugation for the present tense of “be” (“am”), shares the third-person singular conjugation for the past tense (“was”), and shares the plural and second-person conjugation for the present tense of “have” (“have”). And all the past-tense conjugations of “have” are the same (“had”)! Do you see a pattern there??? Me neither.
And of course the language is filled with many other absurdities. I'll bet you didn't know that “blond” is only spelled (or spelt, if you prefer) with an “e” when referring to a female. Otherwise, it’s B-L-O-N-D. The same goes for “brunet.” Why are “very few” and “quite a few” opposites? Shouldn’t "sponged" rhyme with "wronged"? How do you pronounce “preferable”? The point is... Actually, I can't think of a point. English is hard, so read a lot? Yeah.
I, being studious of brevity (because I will never not love that phrase), am going to try and make this short.
Once upon a time (that time being November 29, 2009), there was a twelve-year-old boy whose head was bare and full of air, dead flies and bits of fluff. He wanted to write fanfiction for the Mysterious Benedict Society series, and when he discovered Fanfiction.Net and its MBS archive, he decided to join the fun. Because he was a few tacos short of a fiesta platter, he named himself "GreatKateZonkeyMachine" (if you don’t get it, don’t ask).
Today, I’m a much better writer and more mature than I was in my early days of FF. If you come across any old leavings of mine that seem obtuse/immature/obnoxious, all I ask is that you don’t think of my present-day self based on them. Reading and writing are things I enjoy, and fanfiction is great because it's non-profit: we write purely for the joy of writing, reading, and being read. Of course, 95% of fanfiction is crap...but you get the sentiment.
OTHER STUFF I SHOULD PROBABLY TELL YOU
IN MEMORIAM: Thalia Castellan, Mezzanote, Dove's Wing, AdorableElephant, Kahlan the Dream Spirit
To clarify, these are merely the "original" MBS authors I knew who no longer use FF. I’m sure they are not actually dead.
