TFP Review: The Twistby Twilight-Alagaesia
"Edward, run please be quick I do not think you have enough time to get back before…"
We can see it. That day we’ve been waiting for since the end of New Moon is still fresh within our minds as we anticipate the fourth movie coming out. The wedding of the century. Nothing large and fancy, but rather simple but with flair, much like our favorite protagonists.
Bella in her vintage styled dress, walking down an elaborately decorated staircase, all set up by the rambunctious Alice. Entering a room of a crowd filled with close friends and family, not a lot of guests, but certainly enough to fill up the Cullen home.
It was a day of magic and dreams and longing and finally getting something after waiting for so long. We can see it, but in The Twistby Twilight-Alagaesia, that day is a fleeting dream for Bella and Edward.
Remember back to the first couple of chapters of Breaking Dawn. Bella standing outside of a gas station, the rock on her finger weighing her hand down as she swiped the fancy credit card to fill up her impressively fancy car. Two men walk up to admire the chunk of metal, and Bella let’s them do as they please.
In the book they thank her and drive away. In The Twist, they kidnap Bella and take the car for their pleasure. Though Twilight-Alagaesiadoesn’t go into great detail about the time during Bella’s captivity, we do understand that horrible things were done to her before Edward sweeps in and saves her.
What is to follow includes self-loathing, sadness, depression, and worry from all characters. We are put on a rollercoaster of emotion, going up and down, left and right, never knowing when we’re going to stop or where we’re going to land. Do Bella and Edward get their dream wedding? Do they even get married?
We are left unsure starting at the point when Bella kicks Edward out of her room, spiraling down into depression from the self-loathing reeking from her pores. Twilight-Alagaesiatakes you on a ride, beginning at the first chapter and you are left wondering what is going to happen.
As a reader, you will hope for the happily ever after Bella and Edward so desperately deserve, but with both parties so broken and defeated, you will be left pondering if that is a possible outcome for their future.
