Hi, I'm Laura! I'm twenty-six years old and I'm a Christian. I love Tolkien and C. S. Lewis, Civil War dancing, and cold weather (not too cold, though). I do a lot of knitting, and have recently taken up watercolor painting (so much fun!).
About My Writing
I really enjoy fanfiction; it gives me a break from my own writing. It's nice to have the world and characters all ready for me to play with. I hope that my stories are well written, not only in terms of grammar and such (I'm pretty sure they have that) but also in terms of a good story that you can just read for entertainment. You don't have to worry about any objectionable content in my stories. There may be some mild violence, but nothing graphic. Pretty much everything I write is K or K plus.
Meldahlie and I now run a C2 for fic about the seven lost Lords (Narnia fandom): Beyond the Eastern Seas. Feel free to suggest stories to us, and hopefully we can find some good stuff that's been hidden away (none of the seven lords have a character category here on ).
If you review something of mine, I will try my best to reply back and thank you. Generally, I only review stories that I really like or that are entertaining.
What I Dislike in Fanfiction
Stories written by fangirls who only care about 'hot guys'. Formulaic stories that generally involve an original character falling in love with a canon character (i.e., Tenth Walker fic). Characters who are out of character for no reason. Characters called by their hair or eye color (the blonde; the blue-eyed girl; etc.). Mary Sues. Describing characters or places with which the reader is already familiar. Grim-dark.
What I Love
Character studies. Book-verse. Clever AU fic. Stories about minor characters. Good poetry. Clever turns of phrase. Hope. Joy. Beautiful descriptions that don't veer into the land of purple prose. Adventure. Well done romance that doesn't take over a story.
