Author has written 1 story for Doctor Who.
I'll admit it, sometimes when I'm watching or reading something I love very much, I get this urge to write and read silly fanfiction about it. Then it occured to me- why not actually do so? And here I am. I've stayed away from fanfiction before now, merely because of a past incident involving Jedi and Hogwarts. That was not pretty. Recently though, a friend of mine got me reading a good couple of short fanfictions, and so I may have got over that little fear.
As writing goes...
I like good but dated mystery stories(I loved Sherlock Holmes since I was ten, not since the new movie, not that there's anything wrong with that), I am one of the few Drama and Theatre/English lit students ever to admit they really like Shakespere, and the only stories that are primarily romance that I can stand are Jane Austen, mostly because I grew up with BBC adaptations. Oh and Terry Pratchett. Heck yes.
For plain fun and giggles, not to mention snappy lines, I follow the Skulduggery Pleasent books, the Artemis Fowl books, and a couple of other kids books. They are well written and I love them.
I don't care how cliché it is, but I will tell you loudly that I did indeed grow up with Harry. I won't however lie to you and tell you that I didn't read before that. I came to Harry when I was eight, and I was previously a fan of Enid Blighton and then Roald Dahl. I still love Dahl, he's awsome.
Hitchhikers, obviously, and old scifi stuff.
Other than that I have a weakness for antiheroes and good 1st person voices.
As for what I'll read and write here...
I love Doctor who- I will proudly say that David Tennant is my doctor. Harry Potter fanfiction can be so bad that it is funny, but there is some good stuff out there, I know this and when I can be bothered will have to sift through all the rubbish. I don't think Diskworld can be fanfictioned and I am not prepared to find out- I read it for the style as much as story. Marvel comics fanfics are something about which I know nothing, so I will encounter that one with an open mind as much as possible. Batman fanfics? Never read any, might be interested. I heard there's a whole load of people who wirte modern or retold fairytales or Disney films, that sounds fun. Halo- maybe, never read the books though. The idea of L4D fanfiction sounds good right now too. I'll probably add to the list of stuff-I-might-fanfic myself, but so far that's what I'll be looking for at least.
I'm here for pure fun and laughs, I might formulate a few hair-brained plot theories for certain stuff. I do not pretend to be an amazing writer, it's for my own amusement really. If you really want to crit me, go for it. I'd like to work on keeping existing characters in-character.
