Spin-off of my P&P prequel *Master of Pemberley*. Fascinated with the besottedness of Darcy and his so-called unsuitable bride, the by now widowed Hartwell wonders if - who knows? perhaps? - such overwhelming happiness could be attainable for him, too. The question is: how to go about finding a suitable lady for that?

What if . . . Mrs. Gardiner's Lambton relations had been a little more well-to-do and what if she had stronger and longer ties to them and to Derbyshire? In this variation Elizabeth begins to spend summers with the Gardiners in Derbyshire at a fairly young age. As a result she develops her own ties to that part of the world and its people, including the Darcy's of Pemberley.

Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy have disliked each other almost from the moment they met at the Meryton Assembly. But what if each experienced the other's world by literally walking in their shoes? Pride, presumption, and pandemonium ensue as each learns the nuances of each other's lives.

In 1815, three years into Darcy and Elizabeth's wedded bliss, a murder shatters Pemberley's tranquility. Friends fray and suspicion looms. Can our beloved couple solve the crime and stay strong? Meanwhile, members of the Darcy-Fitzwilliam clan are enduring the censure of the ton after Georgiana Wickham nee Darcy is abandoned by her husband just weeks after their marriage. A bit dark at first, but I promise a HEA for our favorite couple.

What if Georgiana had been at Netherfield? How would it change the story?
