Right then. (Heath Ledger impression) And here- we- go.
Name: Megan. But I have been called Bootsy, Rootbeer, Dr. Royal Parking Lott, Witty (because I am so), Gretchen (still trying to figure that one out), Hibble, and Motorcycle, MC for short. You may call me any or all of those. I personally like MC...
Age: 16 and still unlicensed (sigh)
What else is there to say? I'm American. I'm a girl. Have I mentioned that? I like parentheses. I have three pets, an adorable little guinea pig named Reeses, and two turtles, Crouton (because he lives in a bowl and is probably crunchy) and He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. I've been writing for (counts on fingers) four years now, and although I don't still write every fandom I've ever gotten into, I still look upon all of them fondly and read them every once in a while. Oh, right--
Fandoms: Harry Potter, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy IX and VII, Twilight, Star Wars, Fullmetal Alchemist, D. Gray-Man, Detective Conan/Magic Kaitou, plus some other minor delves.
Writing History: I was convinced, when I was eight, that I was going to be an author. I wrote a collection of novels and short stories (most of which were missing a beginning, or an end, and none of which had any semblance of logic to them whatsoever), but being eight, I forgot about my author fantasies within, probably, the month, and moved on to bigger and better careers, like rock star, astronaut, ballerina, detective, et cetera, et cetera. Four years later I was finally bullied into reading Harry Potter, and something just clicked. Like, yeah, this is what writing is supposed to be, what have I been doing for the past four years...?
Writing Style: Because I cut my reading teeth--or at least, my reading-good-literature-for-the-first-time teeth--on Harry Potter, I've naturally adopted the 'subjective third-person' as typical style. (If you haven't read Harry Potter (YOU SHOULD), the books are written in third person, but extremely sensitive to Harry's point of view, to the extent that some characters can actually be written as nicer or meaner than they really are depending on how Harry feels about them, almost like first person) However, I'll often experiment with different styles, testing levels of formality and how run-on-y I can make sentences without making them totally incoherent, as well as different points of view. You'll find some present tense if you look around, and a couple of second-person POVs. I've never attempted first person yet because... because, um, I can't do it right =_= I would love to one day figure out how to write first person without sounding insufferable and like I'm trying too hard. If anybody has any tips, or any writing tips in general, PLEASE tell me!
Policies: I don't swear. Not in my stories, not in real life. Normally that's not much of a problem, but with some characters (coughEdcough) it's very hard to get the dialogue right without swearing. I try to make up for it, rhythm-wise--I will use darnit, I think it's sort of cute--but I won't use @#. Actually, I will, but only in the context of serious crack, I wouldn't do it when I'm trying to keep a plot going. I'm not so clean as to not use 'Hell', but only as the place, not as a curse. I like to think that my writing is still readable without swears, but if you disagree--I'm sorry.
ALSO-- If you ever want a fellow fangirl to gush with- I'm your girl! ;)
I guess that's it. Some quoties for you all, and then on to the main event!

“Wretched, ephemeral race, children of chance and tribulation, why do you force me to tell you the very thing which it would be most profitable for you not to hear? "My favorite analogy is the music-box one - I love to write stories that are sweet and innocent, but, like a music box going slowly off-key, everything alters but you barely notice it until the song ends and you're left blinking and realizing it had been off." –clovermagic
