Hi, I'm Phoebe Caulfield, dreamer, writer, Anti-Twilighter, music aficionado and all around eccentric.
- In which I review books and some important fanfictions, write long rambly essays on Harry Potter and romance writing, and post jumble about fanfics that may or may not be posted. Oh, and bitch about Taylor Swift.
I read so much that the world could explode around me and I wouldn't notice. I love writing, but I have a ridiculously short attention span. I'm the weirdo who's always wandering around singing John Lennon and Beatles songs to myself. All you need is love... My brain is 50% rock lyrics and 50% lunatic daydreams I've been thought to have Asperger's Syndrome multiple times, and always been proven wrong. I've been writing fanfiction in my head for half my life and thought I was a right nutter until I discovered FF.net and realized there were other like-minded nutters out there. I reckon David Bowie should be made President of the Universe. My quips are all nicked off Monty Python. I wouldn't survive without Skins (original cast), The Inbetweeners or Misfits. I can't hold a drink to save my life. British comedy is the greatest in the world! We might have crap athletes and stuck-up politicians, but damn it, we can make people laugh! I can seem like a coldhearted misanthrope, but I love everyone in my life with all my heart. Stephenie Meyer can throw her laptop into a pit of molten lava as long as it means no one has to suffer through her shit books again. I'm fairly sure I'm a reincarnation of a cross between a stoned sixties hippie and an insane seventies punk. I adore animals, especially horses and dogs. My horse is named Doherty, after the Libertines and Babyshambles frontman, but luckily it's not a complete smackhead.I spent my last Latin lesson sitting at the back reading Bob Dylan's memoirs... and the teacher didn't give a shit! Said teacher also speaks like a clone of Severus Snape, and even my friend asked him if "anyone's told you you're a lot like Alan Rickman." I honestly believe that Morrissey and The Smiths have saved many a hapless adolescent's life. I had severe depression a year ago, and am now the most irritatingly cheery person on the planet. I don't have that many friends, but the ones I do have mean more to me than they could ever realize.
And that's pretty much my life.
Favorite music: The Libertines, The Smiths, Morrissey, The Cure, Placebo, The Sex Pistols, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, David Bowie, The Clash, Oasis, Blur, Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, The Who, John Lennon, Velvet Underground, Lou Reed, Joy Division, Nirvana, Emilie Autumn, The Ramones, The Jam, Paul Weller, Radiohead, U2, Joe Strummer And The Mescalaros, Public Image Limited, New York Dolls, Bob Marley, The Buzzcocks, The Damned, Muse, My Chemical Romance (As I was writing a snarking of My Immortal, I was predisposed to dislike them, but a friend persuaded me to listen to them some more, and now I'm a real fan, especially of their new album; saw them live recently! *fangirl squee* greatest gig I've been to since Glastonbury), Led Zeppelin, Queen, Jamie T, Guns N Roses, Kiss. My music taste is a bit eclectic; I'm prettyrubbish with most Top 40 stuff. Seriously, half the time I have no idea what songs are playing on my sister's favorite radio station, let alone who sings them. It drives her mad.
Favorite TV Shows: The Inbetweeners and Misfits are my two favorite TV shows ever. I love the original Skins, but the new casts just aren't in the same league as the originals. I also love Peep Show, Fawlty Towers, Russell Howard's Good News, Flying Circus... British comedy just wins, period. Am dreading the Americanization of The Inbetweeners. As for non-BritComs... I love True Blood, and have a soft spot for Sookie/Eric, and I used to really like One Tree Hill, although never really followed it after it skipped ahead four years. And ever since I got a Buffy Season One DVD set for my birthday, I've been hooked on anything by Joss Whedon; Buffy, Angel, Firefly, pretty much anything. Oh, and Doctor Who is awesome.
Also, to any Inbetweeners fan out there; I cannot be the only person that's noticed this. The fanon version of the Marauders just are the four Inbetweeners, except probably slightly less of a band of losers. Seriously, Simon/James = the stalkerish romantic, Jay/Sirius = the loud rude sex pest, Will/Remus = The only sane man of the group who tries to keep them under control, Neil/Peter = The idiot with his head on another planet.
Favorite Books: The Dresden Files, Harry Potter, Catcher In The Rye, Skippy Dies, England's Dreaming, Touching From A Distance, Trainspotting, Porno, Glue, Regeneration Trilogy, Carrie, The Motorcycle Diaries, On The Road, The Odyssey, Greek Myths, Misery, The Princess Bride, A Thousand And One Nights, To Kill A Mocking Bird, Chaos Walking, His Dark Materials, Sherlock Holmes, Neverwhere, Smoke And Mirrors, Fragile Things, Let The Right One In, Handling The Undead, Goodbye To All That, Millennium Trilogy, Havemercy, The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, The Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy, The Good Man Jesus And The Scoundrel Christ, The Godfather, Wicked, The Bell Jar, Good Omens. The Sookie Stackhouse Mysteries and Vampire Academy are my personal guilty pleasures.
Fanfiction Projects; My updating timetable is eclectic, to say the least. Whenever I have a holiday or revision to put off, I tend to go heavy on the updates, and when I'm at regular school and bombarded with homework, I just don't have the time. To try and inject some organization into my messy routine, I've written up a list of projects of what I'll be writing over the next few months.
Note; Whenever I get a review, I usually attempt to review one of the reviewers stories. However, if the reviewer writes for a fandom whose canon I haven't read/watched, (eg, Supernatural, Hetalia, Percy Jackson, Naruto, etc), then I'm afraid I won't really be able to review the story. Sorry about that.
Marauders Read My Immortal
I just started this off as a bit of fun, but seeing that this has become popular with a couple of people, I've resolved to finish this. (One reviewer said that it was mentioned on TVTropes, under the My Immortal entry in the Fan Fic Recommendations, saying "Not complete yet, but frickin' hilarious," Whoever wrote that, thanks! Especially since I think a couple of chapters are right duds... but it's your opinion that counts. Thanks!) Yeah, so this story's a bit odd and random at times. I think it's got some pretty funny parts, but there's also some really bad, stupid jokes. And for some weird reason, best known to the deepest, darkest places of my brain, Sirius is now a Godfather fanboy and rabid Kirk/Spock shipper... Look, it is what it is. I don't judge, but you're very welcome to.
This story now has over 200 Favorites or Alerts, and for that, I am very grateful.
Now AU, due to Anarchy In Hogwarts following the Marauders sixth-year, and that definitely doesn't feature Ebony Darkness Dementia Raven Way.
A sort of writing challenge for myself; several series of one-shots, drabbles and short stories elaborating and developing on romances that were left off the page in the canon.
Love And Nargles - Luna Lovegood and Rolf Scamander. This originated as a chaptered, plotted short novel, but as I don't have time to maintain a novel length story, and haven't updated this for ages, I've decided to convert this into a series of short stories, one-shots and drabbles. The story is set after the Battle Of Hogwarts and Luna's graduation, and each chapter will most likely be set in a different country, on a different adventure, with a different animal each time.
Broken Love Song - Neville Longbottom and Hannah Abbott. Starting somewhere during Half-Blood Prince, with Hannah's mother's death.
Strange Infatuation - Draco Malfoy and Astoria Greengrass. Is most likely to be by far the darkest of the series, as it will have to cover the war and Draco's defection and redemption.
Leah Clearwater, Vampire Slayer - A plot bunny that's been bouncing around for a while, and that I want to get written down. It evolved out of my short hate-fic, Dear Leah. Basically, Leah returns to Forks to fight the misogynistic werewolves and vampires, and ends up embroiled in a war that will destroy Forks. Sound fun? I promise, it's very snarky.
The Definitive Guide To Sex And Drugs And Rock And Roll
Growing Up Is Hard, But They've Still Got Each Other...
...No, Crap, That Only Makes It Worse
A four novel series about seven hopelessly insane wizarding teenagers as they navigate their way through the world of sex and drugs and rock and roll; James Potter, a compulsive liar who apparently has some sort of allergic reaction around girls, Sirius Black, mafia heir and self-proclaimed stud with serious family issues, Remus Lupin, long suffering werewolf who is fighting a losing battle to culture and sophisticate his friends, Peter Pettigrew, amateur inventor, Star Wars aficondo and proud super-geek, Lily Evans, socially awkward worrier who isn't quite sure how she fell in with the gang, Anna Ahmed, dyslexic and ADHD-suffering slag who doesn't take crap from anyone, and Morwenna Lestrange, wannabe nihilist, self-titled psychopath and more depressing than a Radiohead album stuck on repeat. Throw in Voldemort and the Death Eaters shoving in in everyone's turf, a mafia-style mob war between the pureblood crime families, and a growing underground punk culture... life is about to get interesting.
