I have a Community that I started now. http://www.fanfiction.net/community/True_Blood_CrossX_Stories/84128/ If anyone is interested in joining as staff please send me a PM.
Description of Community: Ever wonder what would happen if the characters from True Blood met the characters of another series? I love stories like these - there has to be others who do too. This community is for the best of those stories. Be sure and set you ratings to All to see all the stories. There is a little of this and a little of that, something for everyone. And PLEASE let the authors know how much you like their stories, they work hard to entertain you for free, asking only for some recognition. Thanks.
I also have a Forum meant to compliment my Community: http://www.fanfiction.net/myforums/SBMntReader/2228706/
I am currently in the process of copying what I have published here to this site. I will continue to publish here as well.
Birthdate: August 29.
Obviously a Virgo - have a great light-bulb joke for that - How many Virgos does it take to change a light bulb?
I am married, Hubby born December 5.
Obviously a Sagittarius - have another great light-bulb joke for that - How many Sagittarians does it take to change a light bulb?
How true it is. If you do not understand try being married to one.
I presently live up in the mountains in Southern California with Hubby (13 year age difference), 2 cats (Oreo and Pusskin) and 2 dogs(Belle and Sophie). Spooky RIP you are missed. Have 2 stepdaughters(ages 30 & 29) and 1 stepson(age 26). Also 6 grandchildren: 3 in Washington DC (Daddy is military), 1 in central CA (Daddy at Vandenberg), and 2 a five minute drive from my house (Daddy in Iraq).
I also like going wine tasting, and go about 5 to 6 times a year in central California - any wines that I mention in my stories are ones that I have tasted before - not necessarily when I go wine tasting there. And the Le Cuvier wine that I mention is one of the few whites they make. Also for real - it is only sold to wine list members(there is a waiting list, if you want something silimar try Tolo winery, the owner worked as an apprentice at LeCuvier) and all are really fermented with wild yeast.
Other info, 6 out of 8 of my great-grandparents were Swedish emigrants who moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Gave me some great ideas as the majority of people who live there have mostly or all Scandinavian ancestors. The one of mine who was not from Sweden can be tracked back to French/Indian Voyeurs and English settlers from the 1600's in America. My grandmother spoke Swedish and I know a very few words, the majority I used a translation program for. If you can't tell, I lived in the Fort Worth/Dallas area for 3 years - and hated it.
A big part of why it takes so long to write a chapter is because I make sure that what happens(or is background) is described as happening, or could have happened, based on archeology/history - even if some of what I use is considered fringe . Who really knows what happened 9000+ years ago? My other fault is that I obsess about grammar, spelling and punctuation. If it is wrong in my story it means I had finally gotten to the point that I had memorized it too much to see any errors and said, "What the fuck, I'm just going to publish it."
BTW you have probably noticed that I insist on spelling Erik Northman with a K. Sorry, I have a brother named Eric with a C - and it would be just too weird for me to spell it that way. Read my fanfic and you will understand why. Even funnier I have only have two brothers - named Alexander and Eric.
The design for my Avatar image is what I used as a basis for Magan's tattoos.
Favorite TV shows: and in no particular order - True Blood (duh), Stargate SG-1(ever since it came out on Showtime, even went to Gatecon 2000 in Vancouver), Stargate Atlantis, not sure about Stargate Universe yet(but looks promising - not enough episodes yet), the Tudors, Dexter(have to love a serial killer who hunts serial killers - sounds a little like a vampire to me. LOL), CSI: Miami(used to like the LV one, never liked the NY one), NCIS(not sure yet if I like the LA one - Venice Beach seems like a strange place to base it), Supernatural(would like to see more Supernatural/True Blood cross fanfic stories), Caprica(actually seems as if it will be better than BSG, lots of background on how the Cylons came to be), Sanctuary(didn't know if I would like it when it came out, now LOVE it), Criminal Minds (Garcia & Reid are my fav charactors), Bones(fav character - Dr Brennan), Vampire Diary's(Twilight meets Supernatural), Battlestar Galactica (old and new - new is better though), House, Haven.
Favorite Movies: again in no particular order - Avatar, Wind, Stargate, The Black Stallion, Star Wars 1 - 6, The Talented Mr Ripley, What Dreams May Come (great movie, give it a try. Hard to describe. Robin Williams), Last of the Dogmen(not werewolves - Sioux, if you liked Dances with Wolves you will like this one), Swordfish, Breakfast Club, Swing Kids, Titanic, Moll Flanders, Pan's Labyrinth (quite good), Cutting Edge, Lord of War(surprisingly good), the Resident Evil movies( I like horror movies as long as there isn't too much gore), Last of the Mohicans, Good Will Hunting, Wicker Man (the new one), I am Legend, The Day After Tomorrow, Practical Magic(have to like a good witch), Rocky Horror Picture Show("let's do the time warp again!"), Chicago, Lost Boys, Mamma Mia, Shindler's List, White Squall, Grosse Pointe Blank(grew up there - the writer had to of either lived there as a teen OR knew someone who lived there as a teen, too many references to things you had to of lived there to know), Dead Poets Society(if you like House, the actor who plays Wilson has a major role in this movie), The Thomas Crowne Affair, Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, 2012.
Authors I Like: Early Anne Rice(don't like what she has done since she returned to the Catholic church - but have most of her early books as first editions), Alice Borchardt(she is Anne Rice's sister. Writes a great werewolf series set during the time of the fall of the Roman Empire), Dean Koontz(He puts out new book, I buy), Piers Anthony - Bio of a Space Tyrant series(5 books) and Incarnations of Immortality Series(7 books), Wilbur Smith(all), Laurell K Hamilton - Anita Blake series(if you like the Southern Vampire Mysteries books you will like these. Written before the SVM came out, wonder who would come out on top, Jean-Claude or Erik) , Early and Late Steven King(hated his middle books, in my opinion they were just written for the money), John Saul, Lincoln Childs & Douglas Preston (they write books together and separately. They wrote the books that movies Relic and Reliquary were based on), Anne McCaffrey - Freedom series(if I had to pick 5 books to have on a deserted island this series would occupy 4 spots, the last would be a book on edible plants and animals for the area), Tower Hive series and Crystal Singer series (also read the Pern books), Clifford Simak(old scifi author, good books, deceased), Dan Brown(Did you know that Alexander Skarsgård is the son of Stellan Skarsgård, who portayed Maximilian Richter in Angels and Demons-a movie based on a Dan Brown book & he also played Bill in Mamma Mia - one of my favorite movies?I found this out after I started watching TB), Robin Cook, Diana Gabaldon (Outlander series), Alan Dean Foster, Tom Clancy's John Ryan books.
I also like historical fiction.
Music: All over the place. My iTouch contains - Berlin(LOVE, is favorite since I first heard "No More Words" - going to concert at House of Blues in May)(update 6/2/2010: went to concert - it was great!!!!!) , U2, Loreena McKennett, Ministry, Duran Duran, New Order, B-52's, Seal, Tom Petty, Billy Joel, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Patricia Monaghan, Talking Heads, Falco, Sting, Three Weird Sisters, Jewel, Depressed - I mean Depeche Mode, Sarah McLachlan, Anna Nalick, Ruth Barrett, folk music, meditation music and a 50 minute long thunderstorm(very relaxing to me). Plus other stuff.
I WANT one of the new IPad's and have told my hubby that he can get me one of the 2nd gen ones when they come out as an anniversary present for me. Since he is under orders NOT to get me anything electronic (ie anything that uses batteries or a powercord) for me as a present unless I specificly ask for it, when I do ask for something I generally get it. Last time I asked for something electronic it was when I wanted an iTouch.
UPDATE: got it for my b-day. Now I can watch True Blood anywhere I want - except season 3. Plus i now have just about everything Berlin put out on it. I Love It!!!.
AUTHORS NOTE: I know I haven't been posting any new material for a while, but there is a reason for it. I got majorly blocked by a story idea that refused to go away. I ended up writing it and I have allowed a good friend of mine to preview the rough draft of the first half - she is after me to finish soon.
Rather than have three unfinished stories going on here, instead I plan to completely finish writing the new story and then post it's chapters weekly. While I am doing that, I will finish writing my other two stories and periodically posting new chapters to them. I hope to be able to start posting the new story by Thanksgiving - but no promises.
Thank you to everyone who enjoys my stories.
A Field Guide to the Modern Pagan...
Anal Retentive Ceremonial: Book collection actually holds up the ceiling in places. Is studying Greek, Latin and Hebrew all at once. Does "workings" instead of "rituals". All twenty volumes of their magical diaries are in Enochian.
Ravin' Pagan Young and psychedelic. Can dance non-stop all night. Refuses to do boring Eurocentric rituals and prefers deities from sunny climes with lots of interesting local plants. Can say "Ayahuasca" ten times real fast and deliver long quotes from Terrence McKenna.
Dances With Bunnyrabbits:Uses animal symbolism to express nearly all opinions and feelings. Charter member of PETA. Thinks meat eaters should be publicly executed. Has many, many, many pets. Has a spirit animal. Personally owns 927 models, pictures, and other depictions of their spirit animal.
Childe Ov Kaos:Can name seventeen industrial goth bands without pausing to think. Knows what a Prince Albert is. Personally feels that if no panicky headlines appear the day after you do a ritual, you screwed up. Painted on their jacket, engraved in their flesh and/or boldly displayed as jewelry is an emblem which resembles a combination of corporate logo and arcane symbol. If you don't know what it means, they'll think you're a dweeb.
Bright-Eyed Novice You just read this cool book about a religion where there's a Goddess and a God, and they meet outside in nature, instead of some scary old building. They think sex is good not evil, and you want to know where to sign up.
Crowley-In-A-Past-Life:Every magical gathering has at least one of these, along with several variants along the lines of Gerald Gardner, Tituba, Morgan LeFey, or somebody who was Atlantean royalty. Many of them were abducted by aliens recently, and have disturbing dreams rich with arcane symbolism that they will tell you all about, in great detail.
Fairie Queen: Is he a she? Is she a he? Are they a couple, or are those two a couple or are all four of them a quadruple? If getting answers to these questions could disturb you, best stay away. If, on the other hand, these kind of questions seem overly judgmental, you might have a real good time...
Grand Old Wo/Man:Actually remembers Woodstock (the first one.) Will tell you about the time they dropped acid with Kerry Wendell Thornley - or maybe it was Robert Anton Wilson. Anyway, it was somebody with three names. Or was it three people with one name?
Fundamentapagan:If it's in a book, it must be true. If it's in an old book, it must really be true. If it's in an old book that was handed down from an oral tradition of people who couldn't read, then it must really be way true. Gnashes their teeth if anyone shows up at a circle wearing a watch, glasses, or other mechanical assistance. Believes that anyone who lives in a city, eats meat or has a regular job dare not call themselves a pagan.
Het-Case Insist that they aren't homophobic; they just believe that Paganism is about a goddess and a god and they do it and what could be more obvious than that? It just doesn't "work right" if you try any other way! Are secretly afraid that gays and/or lesbians are dying to jump their tender hetro bones.
High Episcopagan Do their rituals have a script, a choreographer, a stage manager, an orchestra with chorus and last at least three hours? It's a High Episcopagan! They can memorize pages and pages of Olde Englishe, have more ritual garbs than most people have socks, and consider their main pagan influences to be Gerald Gardner, Judy Garland and Busby Berkeley.
Monster Truck Pagan Can build own house, kill own food, school own children, and brew own hootch. Owns guns. Anointing oil is 30 weight. Scrying mirror says "objects are closer than they appear".
Norse CodeHeroicand vikingly, these pagans often get into trouble with festival organizers and park rangers due to their fondness for running around with a huge battle-ax in one hand and a full mead horn in the other. They throw the best parties, but if you're a wimp, you're expressly not invited.
Our Lady Of Intense Suffering Is constantly persecuted. You're probably persecuting her right now, you just don't realize it. Became a Pagan because she decided it was that most persecuted religion of all. Can't enjoy anything because it would be selfish to have any fun when so many are suffering.
Pagan Celebrity At conventions, stays on the hotel floor that requires a special key for elevator access. Lurks around knots of conversation eavesdropping in order to see if their name is being mentioned. Arrives in helicopter especially for rituals. Starts every sentence with "I". If you ask them how it's going, they hand you a press release.
Pentacles, Inc Pagans have disposable income too, right? So how come they aren't buying my hand forged Venus of Willendorf necklaces -- they come in silver and gold, and each one has a genuine cubic zirconium belly button. Would you like a reading? Will that be Visa or MasterCard?
Priest/ess of Political Correctness: Analyzes everything they read or hear for sexist - racist - homophobic - imperialist - Eurocentric content without paying attention to what is actually being said. Believes in personal liberty -- everyone has the right to be overbearing, dogmatic and holier-than-thou, not just the Xtian Right. Incredibly boring yet annoyingly self-righteous all at the same time.
Scary Devil Worshipper Would never be caught dead skyclad. Rarely smiles, except in a snide, knowing way which insinuates you are an ignorant peasant worthy of conquest. Secretly enjoys Rush Limbaugh and read The Bell Curve with smug satisfaction. Fascinated with Nazis. Probably has never hurt a fly, but they want you to think they're capable of vast destruction.
Sexy Pagan Nymph Oh, they're so nice! All that warm, round, sex-positive flesh -- and you can actually carry on a conversation with them between orgasms... pant, drool...
Womyncentric Gynocrat A man's shadow crossed her altar once and she spent three weeks purifying it. She'll have no wands in her chalice, thank you. No boys allowed in her full-moon club. Can hold forth for hours on the magical properties of menstrual blood.
Corporate Closet Witch"Hey, boss -- I'd like to take February 2nd as a personal day..." Has an entire chapter of their Book Of Shadows concerned with spells for purifying the workplace. Doesn't mind working on Christmas, especially if there's overtime involved. Quit being overtly Pagan at work since being canned by that born-again boss, but still refuses to say "Merry Christmas."
Tree Hugging Nature Sprite Most prized possession: one of Judi Barry's old tree spikes. Simultaneously believes in universal love for humanity AND returning the planet to a pristine, uncorrupted state. Apt to remove clothes and fondle the shrubbery at a moment's notice. Can discuss compost in great detail.
I Am Not Spock (at the moment) Knows at least three films about Cthulhu and at least forty Star Trek jokes. Has found a clever way to create simple furniture from stacks of science fiction paperbacks. Can name ninety different kinds of space ships.
TechnoPagan Often found discussing the best method of removing hot wax from keyboards. Seems unaccustomed to sunlight. Have had coven-mates for years whom they have never seen face to face, much less know which continent they live on.
