Author has written 17 stories for Broadchurch.
I plead guilty, the only reason why I started watching Broadchurch was because David Tennant was in it. Then I binge watched S1 in one evening, because -really? - who could stop at the end of E6, even if it was 2 am in the morning. I should have known then this wouldn't end well.
The next confession I have to make that I'm a sucker for the broken, wounded, tragic hero type, everyone thinking they are grouches but truly they're not. And if Alec Hardy isn't that, then I don't know. Another clue, that this wasn't boding well.
And last but not least, in a different live I should have been a soap opera writer as the urge to succumb to the melodrama is strong in me. I'm trying really, really hard not to, but there are those moments when I have no (and I mean NO) self-control. Please forgive me.
I have spent way too much time in Alec Hardy's head (any recommendations for a shrink are welcome) and as a result I have this insane story arc in my head, spanning from before Sandbrook ("A Million Holes Poked In the Soul - Part One"), to Sandbrook ("A Million Holes Poked In The Soul - Part Two"), the time until Alec arrives in Broadchurch after finishing Sandbrook ("A Million Holes Poked In The Soul - Part Three) to various missing scenes for the show ("Three Times Christmas", "October Blues", "November Fog", "Sunrise", "A Better Way To Fall", and some works in progress), to a post S2 fic ("The Ocean Breathes Salty"). I was kindly asked to put some of the fluffier parts out there, so there's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" for you. We meet the same Alec Hardy just at different points in his life, and we also meet the same OCs.
My latest addition is a different take on the Broadchurch story - an AU story based on the premise what would have happened if the pendant had not been lost (sort of splits off at Ch 26 of "A Million Holes - Part 2") - it's called "Down By The River" and it's been a lot of fun so far.
I hope some of you will enjoy this epic journey of a fictional character that I'm clearly way to attached to. I'm always open for suggestions, constructive feedback or endless discussion about Broadchurch.
PS I'm nannyogg123 on AO3 and Tumblr if you should come across those sites. I'm in the process of putting together a Broadchurch fic rec list under the title "We are all AU now - yeah!" considering that Series 3 stared filming now. Here's the link: if you're interested.
Bibliography (not in order of publication but in chronological order how events would take place in Alec Hardy's life)
"Down By The River" - an AU story based on the premise what could have happened if the pendant had not been lost (splits off Ch26 of "A Million Holes 2" - so sort of the same Alec but not quite).
And then there is "When The Ocean Met The Sky" - which was written together with hazelmist and published under a common pseudonym. It's a very different AU take on things but it's dear to my heart and worth the read (get a tissue box though).
