![]() Author has written 6 stories for Twilight, StarTrek: Voyager, Portal, Kick-Ass, Doctor Who, Avatar: Last Airbender, and Youjo Senki: Saga of Tanya the Evil. About My Writing Sooo... In the unlikely chance you actually visited this page because you like my writing, welcome! Unfortunately I'm not actually all that great at writing. I have difficulty with getting words down onto page, which makes for an incredibly slow rate of updating. And I've never yet finished a story so, err, don't expect too much of me. xD That said, I do love writing. It's difficult, but I find thinking up stories incredibly rewarding. Typically speaking, my stories focus on an OC of some sort, a character of mine who I've brought into a specific world in order to interact with the characters there. This may be off-putting for a lot of people because I know what a bad reputation OCs have, but I'll do my best to write them decently. If you have any thoughts on how I could improve my writing, then PLEASE say so! I'll be incredibly grateful for the input, as I want to try to bring my writing up to a professional standard. That may be a pipe-dream of course, but it's one I hope for. :) Note: As you can see below, I'm currently trying to build a compendium of some of the best femslash I've read on here, and recommendations for the other readers here. If there is anything in particular you think I've missed out, feel free to tell me via PM. If I don't know the realm it may not make its way on here immediately (or if I'm simply procrastinating, which is frankly the more likely reason it doesn't :P), but I'm always on the look out for more material, so any suggestions you have are definitely welcome. This is a general guide to finding femslash in the Fanfiction world. Each suggestion is linked for easy access. Anything that links to a search is (probably) set to: Romance, 20,000 Words, English, Rating: All, and the main Femslash pairing if appropriate. Femslash Recommendations Fanrealms of interest: The realms recommended for anyone looking for new Femslash to read. They're in a sort of rough order, but just pick whatever you want really. Rizzoli & Isles: This is one of the few realms that is pretty much exclusively for the femslash community. 19 out of 20 stories are femslash, and plenty of those are well worth reading. It requires watching the show to really be able to get into it, and the show itself suffers from queerbaiting, but if you don't mind unresolved lesbian subtext then this fandom is a pretty big reward. Kim Possible: Kim Possible and Shego, aka KiGo, another classic combination. This is also a femslash realm, and quite well established in its role there. This one doesn't need you to watch the show, though you probably need a basic understanding of what's going on: Teen hero is Kim, Shego is the badass Villian Sidekick she always fights with, and the rest you can pick up as you read. Once Upon a Time: Another favourite of femslash. The show itself is pretty good, especially early on, but it has produced a really massive fanbase for the Emma/Regina pairing (over half the stories on there). It's a cute pairing, and this is probably the third largest dedicated Femslash realm. Avatar: The last Airbender: Though it formerly died off, this show has staged a bit come-back due to its sequel being released. Azula/Ty Lee is the main femslash pairing here. This pairing commonly deals with the dynamic of healing and overcoming mental breakdowns. Star Trek Voyager: Where would we be without Voyager, hmm? The femslash here basically centres around Seven, as anyone who's watched it can guess. Personally I greatly favour the Seven/B'Elanna pairing, but apparently I'm the minority in that since most fics are actually about Seven/Janeway. Gargoyles: I'll admit, this isn't actually a realm I'm familiar with personally, however I have read a few stories from my favourite authors that write for here. I watched a few episodes to get a basic grasp of the universe, which I recommend doing if you want to read, but beyond that I'm hesitant to say. I've read some very good fics in this universe though despite it only having a handful of writers, almost always focusing around Demona, so you may want to check it out. Devil Wears Prada: Another realm arguably focused on femslash writers, this one is interesting since it deals with a fairly significant age-gap. I'd recommend watching the movie if you wanna read these stories, but that's an easy recommendation since it was a great movie anyways. Main pairing here is, of course, Andy/Miranda. If you like this realm, I'd also suggest checking on AO3 for it, since it has more stories over there. Steven Universe: Jeez this is a fantastic cartoon. It has a large queer audience and canon femslash pairings, so there's all sorts of different stories available here. I'm not gonna recommend specific pairings, since I think there's too many good ones to mention, but sufficed to say there is lots of femslash here. Life is Strange: Based on a game, this realm is particularly notable for the large number of polyamory stories written, particularly on AO3 but also here. Still, I'd recommend checking out the AO3 archive for this realm since a lot of excellent stories have been written over there. Frozen: Here is an odd one... Somehow this show has evolved to become undeniably a femslash realm, with Elsa/Anna at its centre, despite the whole incest thing. Still, even if that doesn't interest you it's worth checking out, as many stories here expressly avoid the incest thing by changing whether Elsa and Anna are sisters. Most stories will state in their description whether they're incest or non-incest, which is helpful. Twilight: Problematic though Twilight is, Alice/Bella is a very popular theme amongst the Twilight fanfics and is worth giving some attention. Also, given its status as one of the biggest realms on here there is no short supply of interesting stories. I have also found one or two Rosalie fics that are worth reading. Jane, despite being a character I loved in the books, is rarely seen in this Fandom unfortunately. I kinda wish she got more interest, actually. Harry Potter: This is the biggest realm on Fanfiction by a long way, so it is almost inevitable that it would have femslash to go through. I admit it is a bit more difficult to find good femslash here, given the sheer size and number of characters for this 'verse, but there are a number of gems in this realm if you're willing to search for them. Basically all the stories here centre around Hermione. In particular, Bellatrix/Hermione is quite popular, as is Hermione/Fleur. Portal: I absolutely love this game, just as I love GLaDOS, the principle character. The Chell/GLaDOS stories are intriguing since one of the main characters is technically a giant machine (with a God-complex), but I love the pair nonetheless. There are some very decent writers on here, so you should try it out. Batman the Animated Series: There's not really much to say on this, it's Batman. There's Femslash to be found though not loads, mainly in the form of either Harley Quinn, Barbara or Poison Ivy. Vocaloid: I still don't actually understand what Vocaloid IS, but for whatever reason it manages to have a pretty steady supply of femslash, particularly in the form of Miku/Luka, who are singers(?). I don't understand the Fandom, but the stories are decent so it's worth a look. Glee: I'm compelled to put this on here, since it is in fact a pretty large source of Femslash. Even though I'm not a fan of the show, there's nevertheless a number of worthwhile stories on here. There are two main pairs, Santana/Brittany (canon pairing) and Rachel/Quinn (non-canon pairing), and also a few which mix up the pairings. Writers of Interest: Writers that have really stood out as amazing to me. These are usually big bosses of their respective realms, and are amongst the best writers the Femslash community has, though I also include less-known writers that I found achieved excellence over nearly all their stories. Some of them may be notable in multiple realms, or are simply known within one. [Realms they write for, in order of importance] Princess Alexandria: [X-Men, Gargoyles, Twilight, X-Overs] Princess Alexandria is, without a doubt, my favourite author ever. Not even just in the realms, her stories rival even the best published works I've read. She is an OC writer, but don't let that deter you as she manages to give her characters have enough personality and realness to leave you in tears. She is also responsible for some of the largest length stories around, with two Epic-length novels (Trinity and Christy), each possibly in excess of 1,000,000 words. Which you'll read cover to cover, because she's just that good. Due to Fanfiction rules, some of her work isn't on here (notably, most of the Trinity stories). You can find the full version here, if you're wanting to read it. Remember to start with "In Forty-Five Days", and as the stories aren't in order you'll have to read them one after the other. They are all helpfully labelled though. Kudara: [Mass Effect, Voyager, Gargoyles] Known best for her Voyager fictions, Kudara is another good OC writer. Although she has an IRRITATING habit of not finishing stories, the few that she does finish are amazing. Even the ones she doesn't finish are worth reading for how good they are, though I do find myself depressed after doing that since I'm aware they aren't likely to get written at this point in time. Still, I remain in hope. Most of her recent stories focus on Mass Effect, so she's a good place to go for those. Starving Lunatic: [Kim Possible, Once Upon A Time, Others] Starving Lunatic manages to do more with Kim Possible than any other writer I know. Known by everyone from that Fandom, her main attribute is the sheer quantity of good stories she writes. Just about all of her stories are well written, with a few standout gems even amongst those. For anyone interested in reading from the Kim Realm, she is your first, last, and biggest stopping point. She has also done some excellent stories in other Fandoms as well. JoBethMegAmy. my homegirls: [Rizzoli & Isles] The biggest name of the biggest realm for Femslash. Her biggest story is Calamity Jane, but all her stories surrounding Rizzoli & Isles are well worth the read. Unknown_knowns: [Life is Strange] With a unique and beautiful writing style, I am absolutely in love with Unknown's stories. I find them extremely addictive to read, and she has a particular style that keeps you hooked. Stories of Interest: These are single stories that are particularly worth reading. Some stories may not be included, as they fall under the realm of one of my Writers of Interest (particularly with regards to Princess Alexandria, since ALL her stories are worth reading). [The Realm of the story in question] Alone, Together [Kim Possible] Possibly the best story in this realm, I seriously considered putting Failte200 above just for this, despite his relative obscurity and lack of contribution besides it. This story is a romance about Kim and Shego, where they find themselves trapped on a world together, with everyone else just gone. Sillage: [Frozen] This story is a serious contender for my favourite story ever. It is an incest story for Frozen, but it is incredibly sensitive to a whole host of different topics. With a realism and understanding of humans that I'm not sure I've ever seen in a work of fiction before, as well breathtakingly beautiful writing, it is frankly a masterpiece of writing. Bound With Silver Threads: [Harry Potter] Another of my absolute favourite stories. This is about a young Cassiopeia Malfoy, little sister to Scorpius Malfoy, and her gradual relationship with Lily Luna Potter, daughter of Harry and Ginny. It's an OC story obviously, but an excellently told one. I absolutely love Cassie's character, and how the writer deals with the growth and evolution of their relationship couldn't have been done better. Beautiful Mind: [Left 4 Dead] This is a beautiful story by FrostxBite. Honestly, Left 4 Dead is not normally a great genre for Femslash. This story is the exception, on so many levels. It is a beautiful tale of love between a Witch and Zoey, and excellently written. The writer has started on a sequel as well, which is also looking to be excellent so far. Shanty Town: [Kim Possible] Now, fair warning, this story isn't so much a favourite as it is one that haunted my thoughts and dreams, even years after reading it. It's scary and it's stifling somehow, even though nothing scary really happens in it. It is also well written though, and like a drug addiction I have gone back and read it multiple times now, despite leaving a review expressly saying I wouldn't. So yeah. It's a good story. [WIP: This guide/referencing list is obviously not complete, and hopefully never will be (our community shall grow forever more!). I will try to fill in the rather large gaps at some point, however, and flesh it out a bit.] |
