Each unveils the best part of the other. No matter what else goes wrong around us, with that one person we’re safe in our own paradise. “Remember me and smile, for it's better to forget than remember me and cry.”

Once more into the fray
I'm sorry but I don't want to be an Emperor, that's not my business. I don't want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone if possible, Jew, gentile, black man, white. We all want to help one another, human beings are like that. We all want to live by each other's happiness, not by each other's misery. We don't want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone and the earth is rich and can provide for everyone.
The way of life can be free and beautiful. But we have lost the way.
Greed has poisoned men's souls, has barricaded the world with hate;
We have developed speed but we have shut ourselves in:
Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost.
The aeroplane and the radio have brought us closer together. The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in men, cries out for universal brotherhood for the unity of us all. Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world, millions of despairing men, women and little children, victims of a system that makes men torture and imprison innocent people. To those who can hear me I say "Do not despair".
The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed, the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress: the hate of men will pass and dictators die and the power they took from the people, will return to the people and so long as men die [now] liberty will never perish. . .
Soldiers: don't give yourselves to brutes, men who despise you and enslave you, who regiment your lives, tell you what to do, what to think and what to feel, who drill you, diet you, treat you as cattle, as cannon fodder.
Don't give yourselves to these unnatural men, machine men, with machine minds and machine hearts. You are not machines. You are not cattle. You are men. You have the love of humanity in your hearts. You don't hate, only the unloved hate. Only the unloved and the unnatural. Soldiers: don't fight for slavery, fight for liberty.
In the seventeenth chapter of Saint Luke it is written:
You the people have the power, the power to create machines, the power to create happiness. You the people have the power to make life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure. Then in the name of democracy let's use that power, let us all unite. Let us fight for a new world, a decent world that will give men a chance to work, that will give you the future and old age and security. By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power, but they lie. They do not fulfil their promise, they never will. Dictators free themselves but they enslave the people. Now let us fight to fulfil that promise. Let us fight to free the world, to do away with national barriers, do away with greed, with hate and intolerance. Let us fight for a world of reason, a world where science and progress will lead to all men's happiness.
Soldiers! In the name of democracy: let us all unite! - Charlie Chaplin

Caboose: Yep. The universe sure is mysterious.
Simmons: And that's why Science is here to sort it all out!
Caboose: Yeah, sometimes I wonder if there's things we'll never explain. You know, like, you know, what if we did answer all the questions? You know, would we live on, like forever, happy with our triumph over ignorance? Or is ignorance just a common enemy that once destroyed, would leave our species without a reason to carry on? I guess it doesn't matter what the answer is...because even if supreme knowledge did bring about the end of our species, the thought of obtaining it is just what would keep us together. You know? People will always look up at the sky...and just wonder why we're here. - RvB Caboose
A girl and guy were speeding over 100mph on a motorcycle
Girl: Slow down, I'm scared!
Guy: No, this is fun.
Girl: No, it's not. Please, I'm scared.
Guy: Then tell me you love me.
Girl: I love you, now slow down!
Guy: Now give me a big hug.
She gives him a big hug
Guy: Can you take off my helmet and put it on yourself, it's bothering me.
In the newspaper the next day, a motorcycle had crashed into a building because of break failure. Two people were on it and only one survived. The truth was that halfway down the road, the guy realized his break wasn't working but he didn't want the girl to know. Instead he had her hug him and tell him one last time that she loved him. Then he had her put on his helmet so that she would live even if he died. Copy this onto your profile if you would do the same thing for someone you love.
Johnny brought a gun to school
“Mommy” PLEASE READ THIS……AND PASS IT ON
Johnny brought a gun to school,
Mommy, I was a good girl, I did
But Mommy, when I went to school that day,
When Johnny shot the gun,
Mommy, please tell Daddy;
And tell my little sister;
And tell my wonderful friends;
Mommy, tell my teachers;
Mommy, why’d it have to be me?
And Mommy, tell the doctors;
Mommy, I’m slowly dying,
Mommy, I ran as fast as I could,
I wanted to go to college,
I wanted to get married,
But Mommy, I’m must go now,
I love you Mommy, I always have,

Colored or Not?
A black man walks into a cafe one early morning and noticed that
The black man turned around and stood up. He then said:
“When I was born I was black,”
“When I grew up I was black,”
“When I’m sick I’m black,”
“When I go in the sun I’m black,”
“When I’m cold I’m black,”
“When I die I’ll be black.”
“But you sir…”
“When you’re born you’re pink,”
“When you grow up you’re white,”
“When you’re sick, you’re green,”
“When you go in the sun you turn red,”
“When you’re cold you turn blue,”
“And when you die you turn purple.”
“And you have the nerve to call me colored!!!”
The black man then sat back down and the white man walked away…
Who Am I?
I am the boy...that doesn't go to school dances, and when I do go, I sit in a corner and read a book. I am the boy that people look through when I say something. I am the boy that spends most of his free time reading, writing, or doing other activities that most teenagers wouldn't call normal. I am the boy that people call weird, and a freak either behind my back or to my face. I am the boy that doesn't spend all his time on MySpace, or talking about cars, girls or sex to his firends. I am the boy that hasn't been asked out in a year...or ever. I am the boy that has stopped to smell the flowers and jump and slash in the rain.
But I am also the boy who knows and is proud to be who he is, doesn't care if people call him weird (it's a compliment), who loves reading and writing and doing the things that no one seems to have the time to do any more, who can express himself better with words, and knows the importance of the little things.

Tribute to the Dog
Gentlemen of the Jury: The best friend a man has in the world may turn against him and become his enemy. His son or daughter that he has reared with loving care may prove ungrateful. Those who are nearest and dearest to us, those whom we trust with our happiness and our good name may become traitors to their faith. The money that a man has, he may lose. It flies away from him, perhaps when he needs it most. A man's reputation may be sacrificed in a moment of ill-considered action. The people who are prone to fall on their knees to do us honor when success is with us, may be the first to throw the stone of malice when failure settles its cloud upon our heads.
The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous is his dog. A man's dog stands by him in prosperity and in poverty, in health and in sickness. He will sleep on the cold ground, where the wintry winds blow and the snow drives fiercely, if only he may be near his master's side. He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer. He will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounters with the roughness of the world. He guards the sleep of his pauper master as if he were a prince. When all other friends desert, he remains. When riches take wings, and reputation falls to pieces, he is as constant in his love as the sun in its journey through the heavens.
If fortune drives the master forth, an outcast in the world, friendless and homeless, the faithful dog asks no higher privilege than that of accompanying him, to guard him against danger, to fight against his enemies. And when the last scene of all comes, and death takes his master in its embrace and his body is laid away in the cold ground, no matter if all other friends pursue their way, there by the gravesidewill the noble dog be found, his head between his paws, his eyes sad, but open in alert watchfulness, faithful and true even in death.George Graham Vest
Obituary of Common Sense !
Today, we mourn the passing of an old friend by the name of Common Sense.
Common Sense lived a long life, but died from heart failure at the brink of the Millennium. No one really knows how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He selflessly devoted his life to service in schools; hospitals, homes, factories and offices, helping folks get jobs done without fanfare and foolishness.
For decades, petty rules, silly laws and frivolous lawsuits held no power over Common Sense. He was credited with cultivating such valued lessons as to know when to come in from rain, the early bird gets the worm and life isn't always fair.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn), reliable parenting strategies (the adults are in charge, not the kids), and it's okay to come in second.
A veteran of the Industrial Revolution, the Great Depression, and the Technological Revolution, Common Sense survived cultural and educational trends including feminism, body piercing, whole language and new math.
But his health declined when he became infected with the "if-it-only-helps-one-person-it's-worth-it" virus. In recent decades, his waning strength proved no match for the ravages of overbearing federal legislation.
He watched in pain as good people became ruled by self-seeking lawyers and enlightened auditors. His health rapidly deteriorated when schools endlessly implemented zero tolerance policies; when reports were heard of six year old boys charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; when a teen was suspended for taking a swig of mouthwash after lunch; when a teacher was fired for reprimanding an unruly student. It declined even further when schools had to get parental consent to administer aspirin to a student but couldn't inform the parent when a female student is pregnant or wants an abortion.
Finally, Common Sense lost his will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband, churches became businesses, criminals received better treatment than victims, and federal judges stuck their noses in everything from Boy Scouts to professional sports.
As the end neared, Common Sense drifted in and out of logic but was kept informed of developments, regarding questionable regulations for asbestos, low-flow toilets, smart guns, the nurturing of Prohibition Laws and mandatory air bags.
Finally, when told that the homeowners association restricted exterior furniture only to that which enhanced property values, he breathed his last.
Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son Reason. His three stepbrothers survive him: Rights, Tolerance and Whiner.
Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.
Light and Dark by tapirgroover
Are the poisons that welcome sin
And as all things do, sin comes fulls circle
Thus here lies the reason where in:
That true we are inherently evil
Yet evil knows not ore name
What is evil and what is good I ask
And so, what right have they to blame?
To the diviniest sense and discerning eye
Evil is the true good.
Then what is evil? let me tell you.
It is nought.
Oh, my beautiful monarch
There is only
Light and Dark
I am Nightmare
Or so they call me.
A "Mare" of the Night they say
Though I was born from the dark
The dark is a very lonesome place.
And so, I concluded that
I love the Light
I Loved it
It held an irresistible quality
I loved the way that it sparkled
The way it moved
The creatures that beheld it.
I worshipped it in secrecy
The light would surely reject me
I am the spawn
of the dark
At least that's what i thought.
Have you ever wished for anything?
What i want...
I want Light
How does one go about finding Light?
I remember asking once before.
And the Truth was, I didn't know.
I came to realize that
The darkness can't live in the light.
Let alone with it.
It sears my flesh.
Devours my bones.
Yet I refused to accept the fact for much time.
If only if i had much sooner.
I knew that I didn't belonged in the light
I didn't care.
And so i pretended.
That everything was fine
Up until it was too late.
Much too late.
Oh, I knew.
The hunger for power.
Darkness is a humorous thing.
It recognizes who you are.
It accepts you.
And inner most workings
And the dark corrupts it all.
The darkness is a humorous thing.
I am a Monster
And a monster doesn't belonged in the light.
It wasn't as if I couldn't live with the light.
The light could not live with me.
After all, the darkness corrupts.
I am corrupt.
I am corruption.
You are pure.
You are the light.
It took me a thousand years.
To realize that i yearned for the light.
It was already in my hands.
But what good is it?
To be honest, i didn't want to let go.
I was afraid of being alone again.
But my story has a good ending.
The rest is history.
I was rejected by the light.
And exiled to the dark.
But where light is, the darkness will always follow.
After all, in this world, there is only
Light and Dark.
On Why Being Sad Makes Me Happy
Some time back I had written a post on why being sad makes me happy, but that was more of a generic post. There have been so many people coming to the blog searching 'why being sad makes them so happy' (one of them is now my facebook friend as well), it somehow made me think even deeper on why some people including me feel a sense of comfort when we are sad. I really couldn't come up with a satisfactory explanation. I think it depends more on our nature and our personality. I am an introvert person and don't open myself easily in front of others. We all are looking for someone who can really understand us because we are surrounded by people of totally opposite to our nature i.e extrovert and too over the top. It somehow makes me feel that I am some kind of a different person, not suited for this world. In this quest for a person who could really understand us and let me be as I am, we somehow feel lost and know in our hearts that we have to change ourselves if we want to survive. And it's not so easy to change yourself as you are. To completely mould yourselves with the society, requires great mental strength, which I do not have. Thus a sense of disillusionment sets in and feel resigned to fate as to I can never be really happy in life unless I change. Moreover, I have had some pretty bad experiences in life. Whenever I have achieved some real happiness, something or the other goes wrong. Now when something good happens, it makes me feel scared as to 'is this happiness really true'? It makes me feel as if this happiness is like an illusion, which will last for a fleeting moment. It is like feeling guilty to enjoy this happy moment. Guilty of what I don't know? How can this happiness come to me? Is God playing some wicked game with me..is it the warning before a storm? Whenever I have tried to come out of this negative phase, something or the other happens, it makes feel as if this was a signal that you are destined to be like this. Whenever I try to bring upon a change in myself, it goes horribly wrong, so I have accepted the fact I will be like this all my life. I have been unhappy for such a long time, that I have become so familiar with it, that when happiness comes it is like something unnatural for me. We have lived in darkness for such a long time that when light comes, we feel blinded as to don't know how to react this flashing beam. We want to quickly go back to my familiar state where we have lived for so long. It is like darkness comforts us and wee don't know how things will pan out when lights goes off again. So why let light come in the first place? And perhaps that is why I hate things changing around me. And it is said that change is the only permanent thing in life. Is it then the uncertainty of future that makes me like this? Does that make me a defeatist? Does that make a less ambitious person? Can introvert people not be ambitious? People say happiness is subjective. Is something wrong when I say that my happiness is sadness. Isn't it better than faking your happiness? Isn't it better than feeling nothing at all? Is that why I love sad films? Is that why I like sad songs? Do you have a better explanation for this?
I don't know what I wrote makes sense or not but I have been thinking a lot about this. So randomly what came in my mind I just wrote..
The Real Me
I want to be happy, but I think of things that make me sad. I say I don’t care, but honestly, I do. I’m a conflicted contradiction. If I can’t figure myself out, there’s no way anyone else has.
I want to travel. I want to feel the ocean water on my skin. Most of the time I try to convince myself that the future is yet to come; but I should remind myself: yesterday was once future too; tomorrow soon will be past, and I still haven’t moved from here. I think of cities I’ve never visited, the books I never read, the hearts I’ve yet to loved by. I crave for the love I never got, the thoughts I never had, and the people I’ve never met.
When I say “I miss you”, I really do mean it. I don’t only say those 3 words when I need something from you. If I tell you that I miss you, it means that you mean a lot to me. Not only does it mean that you have positively impacted my life, but also means that I want you to stay. I know people come and go, and that’s life, but I’m going to be honest, I want you to stay in my life.
What my problem is that I get attached fast. And once I get attached to someone I try my best to make them happy. It’s never about what I want; it’s always everybody’s needs before my own. I give out too many chances to people who, quite frankly, do not deserve them. Even when they need someone or help, I’ll still be there for them, because that’s me, that who I am. Once I get attached to someone, they capture my heart and they always have a place there. That’s why it is so hard for me to just let people go.
I don’t think people love me. They love versions of me I have spun for them, versions of me they have construed in their minds.
What I don’t get about life is how someone can erase you from their memory, how someone can just delete your existence, how someone can just walk pass by and you pretend nothing happened between you two. How someone can completely forget about all of the memories you’ve made together, how someone can get over you so quickly, how someone can just lie to your face. How someone can just lose the feelings they had for you unexpectedly, how someone can change your entire mood in a second, and how someone can walk away like you meant nothing. I just don’t get it. It doesn’t make sense to me.
What am I afraid of? I’m afraid of being comfortable in happiness because in just a few seconds I can lose everything and everyone in my life. I want to be happy, but it is just a feeling that you have in a certain moment. It can be taken away. Nothing lasts. Things change. What happens to the happiness when it goes away? “Yesterday I had everything, today I have nothing.”
One of the many things I love is when I’m reading and I completely zone out. I forget about my troubles, everything around me. I’m focused on that one thing and everything seems so peacefully. I love reading books because they make me see things differently from another point of view. I live though characters, I live through books. I love flowers, long and warm hugs, the smell of the rain, starry nights, getting lost in a book, acts of kindness, being accepted, being loved, feeling loved, songs that can relate to my actual situation, hot tea, saying what I actually feel and writing. The only time I can actually be myself is when I’m writing. Even though I know not too many people are reading what I’m writing, I do it for myself nonetheless. Writing what I feel is like putting down on the paper my memories and everything I love. Every single story I write has a part of me which will never go away.
When people tell me about themselves, I just find it fascinating. Doesn’t matter what it is, it can be about their day, what they like to do, what keeps them alive, what they hope the future holds for them, what makes them cry and scared, anything. I like getting to know people. I like the sparks in their eyes when they talk about their passion and how much they love it. It’s beautiful. This is when they are most beautiful. - Alexandra Pascariu
