The short of it:
A 30-ish gal with a license to practice psychotherapy by trade, and with a propensity for dreaming and coaxing a creative spirit to surface the rest of the time. A California native and resident. Lover of live music, the smell of library books, and grilled cheese sandwiches. Love seeing new movies in old theaters. A scholar in cross-cultural communication, psychology and resilience. I am a seeker of knowledge and inspiration. A supporter of Rob and Kristen separately and together. A writer trying to first nurture then dispel her fear of living creatively. A believer that we are to be the change we wish to see in the world (Gandhi).
I'm navigating Twitter these days, and I'm the person most surprised by this. I was trying to avoid it, but I need something to link me to new reads, new hysterical blogs, and ridonk beautiful pictures of Rob and Kristen. I don't say anything particularly witty or enlightening. I leave that to my brilliant friends, affiliates and sisters.
I released a personal project, a blog in June, 2010, discussing and deconstructing myths about "beauty". The goal is to perhaps disperse some of the hatred and segregation involved when a person holds a factor considered "other", atypical, unknown, or, "outside the box". Each essay features actress Kristen Stewart and other public figures of relevance today, who embody Their OTHER-NESS and celebrate it. Of course, in Kristen's case, the media and societal commentators rip her to shreds because of her insistence on not fitting in.
I update at least bi-weekly, on Thursday-ish. Was sooo nervous about releasing. However, I have received an outpouring of incredible responses that rock my world. Come and chat Pretty Rebellion with us, mmmkay?
