I AM A LOYAL MEMBER TO THE FAY DUNBAR AWARENESS LEAGUE (SELF-NAMED AND FOUNDED). I RAISE SUPPORT TO THE IDEA THAT YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE CREATED YOUR OWN UNORIGINAL MARY SUE OR GARY STUE WHEN YOU HAVE A SIMALAR ROWLING MADE CHARECTOR RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR NOSE.
If you're an author looking to employ a OC with Harry, here are some alternative routes you should first explore:
If you're looking for a intelligent girl to help Harry out of dead-end situations, see Hermione Granger.
If you're looking to create the most commonly employed OC, a blue eyed brown haired pureblood Griff in Harrys own grade, check Hermiones roomate Fay Dunbar (Our Namesake).
If you're looking to create a strong, long blonde haired companion, see Luna Lovegood.
If you're looking to write about a independent red-haired firey girl, see Ginny Weasley.
If you're looking to set Harry with a smart and girly quidditch pro, see Cho Chang.
Now then, HarryXOC is my favorite pairing. But it is a hard one to master. If you are writing a story with this pairing consider the above. Dont get sucked in to the hole of Mary Sue OCs, and employ a Rowling original. Most of these charectors are easily molded and undeveloped, you have almost free reign. So don't waste your time creating an OC named Germione Hranger with a strong resemblance to Harrys best friend Hermione.
