I think this is as good a place as any to explain why I am a huge Plum fan. A Babe. I live in the midwest, married the man I fell in love with when I was a senior in high school and we have 4 beautiful children. He's job keeps him very busy and I work part time to keep my sanity. ;-) I have a creative mind and am foutunate to have a job where I get to teach people to use theirs. Our life is crazy and busy and I love it.
March of 2010, a student of mine told me about the Stephanie Plum books before we left for the Dells with the kids for spring break. I bought One for the Money and read it in one day. Fast forward 14 days and I had read all 15 books. While at the beginning I was a Cupcake, by High Five, I couldn't get enough Ranger and by Hard Eight, I think I was going to scream when I read the scene or lack there of when Ranger collected on their deal. I think that there are plenty of places in the books where Ranger expresses his interest in Steph, but it goes unexplored.
I love the Plum world because it is an escape from my everyday life - not that I don't love my life, but everyone needs a break from reality. I see a lot of myself in Steph and it gives me a chance to play with the what-ifs.
After I read all of the books, I was waiting for 16 to come out in June, although I felt 14 and 15 were not nearly up to par. Short of re-reading the books, I didn't know what to do with my obsession. A co-worker asked if I looked into fan fiction. I had no idea what she was talking about. I found fff.net and was hooked. I then found my way to some fantastic yahoo groups. After lurking and reading for 2 months I decided to take the plunge.
I like to explore the books and rewrite history so to speak. I haven't written in more than a dozen years, but until I found Ranger, I wasn't inspired to. Enjoy.
