Author has written 6 stories for Twilight.
I came pretty late to the Twilight universe - I only read the books late last year. I had, in fact, never even heard of them until I had to read one for my book club. Fortunately for me, that meant that I didn't have to wait for any of the books to be released. It was also my first introduction to fan fiction. I had a story floating around in my head (Choices - a scene from Eclipse in Edward's POV) that just wouldn't go away until I wrote it down. That got me wondering - had this happened to anyone else? I went searching and a whole new obsession was born!
Like everyone else, I have my bugbears about reading fanfic. I can only say to any authors out there - proof read. Look for errors, but also read for meaning. Just because a word is spelled correctly, doesn't mean it is the right one. Homonyms, or more properly homophones (words that sound the same but mean different things), can be a problem. Others have pointed out the obvious ones (the Project Team Beta site has the best list I have seen), so I will just share my favourite:
Wanton: sexually immodest or promiscuous (it has other meanings but that's the only one that gets used in fanfic!)
Wonton: (of Chinese cookery) a small round dumpling with a savoury filling, usually boiled
The sentence "Edward's hands ran over my quivering body, the sensations turning me into a wonton", while correct for spelling, grammar and punctuation, was probably not what the author was trying to convey. It did, however, make me snigger for the next two hours, so there was a silver lining.
I only keep current WIP stories in my favourites list (otherwise it would be bigger than Ben Hur). If you only read completed fics, check out my community for my favourite completed stories.
