![]() Author has written 4 stories for Twilight. 3/15/14--Just a note to apologize for the lack of updates on The Agreement this year. So far 2014 has brought me flu, bronchitis, and a severe sinus infection; but much worse, a death in my family. As a result, I simply haven't been able to write for quite some time. I want to finish the story but I honestly have no idea when that will happen. I really do appreciate all your feedback, even if I have not been able to respond as of late. Thank you for your understanding. I'm still not sure how I ended up here. If you had told me a couple years ago that I would be writing a fan fiction, I would have laughed. I'd never even heard of "fan fiction" until I became a Twilight fan, although, as it turns out, I used to write it years ago as a kid when I conjured up stories about the rock bands I loved. An online "conversation" with a group of Twilight- and Robert Pattinson-obsessed friends gave me an idea for a Twilight-based story, and once I started writing it down, I never looked back. At first I posted it only on my blog spot, but when I came near to completing it, I decided to post it in a bigger forum in hopes it would find an audience who enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. I hadn't done much creative writing as an adult until recently, but I have a BA in journalism and sell/write advertising for a living, and I think writing has always been in my blood. I don't have an official "beta," but so far my friends have been good at giving suggestions and catching any typos I might make. And special thanks to Cared for her wonderful fic rec of The Agreement On "Rob Attack": http:///2012/05/04/fanfiction-fridays-recs-for-may-412/ Cheers, and happy reading! P.S. If you are wondering why I have only a few fics marked as favorites on my list, it's because I have only read a handful of fanfics in my life! I hate to admit that, but as I said, I wasn't even aware fanfiction existed until a couple of years ago. When I began writing my own, I stopped reading others. I find that in order to write, I have to be rather myopic and not look at others' work. I'm too afraid of inadvertently borrowing ideas or writing styles from everyone else. I have quite a list of fics I want to read when I'm in between writing my own. P.P.S. I have often seen a list of peeves on other writers' profiles, and I'm finally going to break down and add one of my own. There are the obvious grammar and spelling mistakes that annoy me, like putting an apostrophe in "its" when it shouldn't be there because the word is being used as a possessive. But the mistake that really grates on me is a very common one. I call it the "Horton Hears a Who" Golden Pronoun Rule. A person is always a "who." A person is not a "that." Horton does not hear a "that." Correct: "I'm the one WHO loves you." Incorrect: "I'm the one THAT loves you." Only use "that" for things. "My Twilight book is the one THAT fell off the shelf. You're the one WHO put it back for me. Thanks!" Phew! Glad I got that off my chest. ;) |
