Well, it's been a very very long while since I've come online here, and for all who thought I'd abandoned everything, well, you're not half wrong. College life has been hectic and my research sucked me in more than I cared to admit.
I have a story lined up, and I should be comparatively free in the coming months. Most of my exams are over, and I need to complete only a couple of courses now, so I should think it will be easier for me to write. The story is about Harry Potter trained in the Middle East. He gets involved in the sectarian politics and all over there and discovers secrets he shouldn't. I intend this to be around 100,000 - 150,000 words and serve as a prequel to a plot bunny brewing in my head.
Those curious about my other stories will have to be content with a grimace from me. I've read them again, and knowing the thought processes in my head at that time, I can tell you that I was very immature when I began writing those pieces, and I'm not exactly in the right frame of mind to complete them. Maybe a rewrite can happen when it wants to, but don't hold your breath.
Update 6/7/2010 :
Sorry for abandoning this site for a couple of months. A pair of broken arms can do that to you. The upside is that my story's really taken shape inside my head. Thanks to all who had the patience to bear with my continued absence.
When not thinking about India's problems (or my own), I love writing down whatever comes to my mind. Seeing like minded people writing here makes me feel happy... When I'm happy, I tend to write! I mostly like Harry Potter fanfics, or the occasional Star Wars one. Mostly Harry Potter, though. Especially those where Harry Potter is actually a real guy. With good points and flaws like the rest of us. With the addition of magic, of course.
Preferred Ships :
Harry/Ginny - She seems kinda right for him. Though one tends to outgrow this genre very soon.
Harry/Fleur - What's not to like? The sexy, drop-dead gorgeous veela girl with the quiet broody boy-who-lived. Though this one works only when written in a complete AU, i.e. when the author is considering a complete revamp of the HP series.
Harry/Tonks - This pair clicks. The shy, quiet boy with the outgoing auror. He with the burden of the world on his shoulders, and she being the perfect foil to his gloominess.
Harry/Daphne - If written right, this pair is the best of the lot. No question. She's defined vaguely enough for writers to mold her as they will.
Hated Ships :
Remus/Tonks - Just... No!
Harry/Hermione - What do people see in her is something I will never understand. Arrogant, bossy, and someone very easy to hate, she's probably the one worst suited for Harry Potter as a person.
Slash pairings - I have nothing against gay people, but reading about it makes me visualize it (unintentionally, of course) and I don't swing that way...
