Author has written 3 stories for Twilight, Harry Potter, Bleach, and Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
I love reading fantasy books and they inspired me to start writing my own stories. I haven't been writing fanfics for that long but I have been writing various fantasy stories of my own.
I would love to be able to publish one of my own story someday though _
I also changed my pen name from Miyako-87 to Mariko Akera.
My name is Marieke and I live in The Netherlands, but (believe it or not) my Dutch sucks. My English on the other hand is much better which is kind of weird but ah well, I'll survive :)
I write all of my stories in English and will only publish things that I'm absolutely happy with. This means I'll check and recheck everything I write before I post it :)
I started writing my own fantasy stories out of boredom at school. Every time I get bored my mind starts to wander off to a different world just to escape the boring things that are happening around me. At some point I just started writing them down and before I knew it I had 5 fantasy stories that I was working on (none of them is finished yet but they will be some day)
About my fics:
I started writing fanfiction at the beginning of September 2010 and uploaded the first chapter of Wings of a small Bird in the beginning of Oktober 2010.
A few things I will always do in my fics:
I will always create a character of my own. I need to have a character who I can make the way I want him/her so I can make the story 'my own'. Just writing with the existing characters doesn't allow me to be all that free. A character of my own will be my creation and I can give him/her the characteristics I want. I will make sure that the character fits in with the original characters so that the story will still be nice to read for the fans of that specific fandom (and maybe even for people who don't really like the fandom, you never know)
Another thing about my fics is that I will most likely always write from a First Person POV. First person POV gives me the opportunity to get into the characters thoughts and feelings easier than a Third person POV would. I might write some parts of a fic in Third person POV but that would only be to give an overall view on how things are going at some point in the story.
A last thing is that if I would write a fanfic about a Japanese anime series I will use the Japanese terms instead of the English translation. I always watch anime in Japanese and really don't like the translations all that much... I will put up a wordlist when I decide to post an anime fanfic and I'll only use words that are important (I won't write complete conversations in Japanese because I don't think a lot of people would understand that other than myself and the Japanese people who might read the fic.)
