I've got all these ideas floating around in my head (and some on my computer) but nothing even remotely close to published. So I decided to start up a FF account and float some of my ideas out for your review--just to see if any of them are considered halfway decent.
Thanks for stopping by!
Pet Peeves that are Horribly Common
Legend/myth/magic lore: Specifically, the use of the word 'Coven' in relation to vampire groups. Historically, the word for vampire groups is the same as the word for most other non-human supernatural creature (barring werewolves)--that is, 'Court'. Witches and/or any other small human group with magical ability is 'Coven.' I blame this widespread misinformation on Twilight and its author's severe lack of any historical terminology research.
There is also the common misspellings or misuse of spelling of words like 'writhe' and 'wither' (although I still can't figure out why those two get confused so often); lie, lay, and all their various conjugations; their, there, and they're--you probably get the idea. I do not rely on spell-check's grammar check or contextual spelling options for the simple reason that it only takes into account the words directly before and after the words it flags, as far as I can tell. As most grammar and contextual spelling is reliant on the entire sentence (and sometimes paragraph), grammar check usually causes more errors than it corrects.
