Author has written 13 stories for Rio, My Little Pony, Pokémon, Guardians of the Galaxy, Courage: The Cowardly Dog, and Zootopia.
Hello, my name is Ernest goes to camp. Ever since I saw Rio in theaters, I was inspired to make a fan fiction story about the movie. Now, I am an active fanfiction writer. I love to read and write transformation stories. I am at my best when I write stories that center around transformation and that have elements of suspense/drama and realism.
Don't assume because you've written the most original character or story that your fanfiction will not be affected by copyright. No fanfiction on this website or any other website is original because if it was...it would not be fanfiction in the first place. Using disclaimers in your stories WILL NOT give you protection against copyright claims. As long as you write fanfiction, your story and characters, even if they were 100% thought of by you, belong to the creators of the show/movie/book that you're writing. Now, there are some creators that SUPPORT fanfiction, but others may not.
Things that may annoy me:
Stories that are always written in past tense despite the chapter being set in the present.
Example: I drank the soda. (Unless you've actually done it in the past)
Correct: I drink the soda. (Present tense)
Authors that ask for reviews in every chapter and in their summary.
I'll be honest, I've done this in the past for my earlier stories. If you're just asking for a review in every chapter, it gets annoying. I might just stop reading your story altogether because of your desperation.
Authors that request a number of reviews for the next chapter.
Um...okay, that won't happen unless your story is extremely popular.
Authors that threaten to stop writing their story if nobody reviews.
There's no better way to lose loyal readers and credibility.
Authors that add foul language to characters that are unrealistic for them to use in the first place
Once again, I've done this in the past, but now I understand how much frustration it is for readers to see their favorite characters not acting as themselves.
You're not going to have Barney or Pikachu say 'Fuck'. It would be more realistic if a human said it. Unless it is a comedy...then go ahead and ignore this all together.
Authors that use all caps to emulate an emotion from a character
I'M ANGRY, GRRRRR!
Stories that are in script format
This isn't screenwriting.net, it's fanfiction.net which means you write novels not scripts.
Making fake reviews to make your story seem legitimate
This is the worst of them all.
Things that amaze me:
Authors who try their best.
Works of literature in the form of serials
Authors who don't write Mary Sue's or Gary Stu's
Authors who write because they want to write, not because they want to get reviews
Stories that demand a break from the mainstream
Stories that have engaging, well-rounded, characters
Stories that can be made into original work (Example: Fifty Shades of Grey)
