Author has written 2 stories for Pokémon.
I've found my way around this site, so I'm now exploring some of the cool things, like DocX. Oh, and I'm writing some stuff of course.
I'll probably mostly write stories about the Pokemon anime, because that's the main reason I joined this site. To read and write such stories! :D
Honestly, I have nothing to write in this profile. Yet.
Maybe I'll write some things I like in the Pokemon anime... Dunno. Dx.
I also watch the anime "Hetalia: Axis Powers", and am enjoy it a ton more than I originally thought I would. So maybe a one-shot of that may be explored. It'd be hard to capture the feel of that anime though.
I support a small number of ships, but personally believe that if a fic is well-written, it can be entertaining and good reading no matter what ship you support.
Mainly, I'm a PearlShipper, and probably most, if not all of my fics will involve that. I just really enjoy the relationship between Ash and Dawn and their support and cheering for each other.
I also find ColdCoffeeShipping and MockShipping quite interesting, but I'm not sure if I support them. xD
I can be found lurking on the PearlShipping thread on the Serebii forums, as the user "DigitalUpkeep".
Ash/Satoshi: Well, of course he's the main character. But you don't have to like the main character. I admire his determination and drive, he's confident in himself, and he knows he'll do it eventually, so let's keep on trucking! And of course I like his hairstyle and hat... :3
Dawn/Hikari: I didn't actually like her when I started watching the D/P saga. The fact that she was a coordinator and was new made her seem like a new May, but as soon as her first contest rolled around, I knew it was different. I liked watching her kind of grow up, she had to work towards her goals, and seemed sort of like a female Ash. xD.
James/Kojiro: I like Rocket-dan, as a whole, but I like James best. He has such a wide array of amusing talents, and he's such a big softie, it's hard not to like him. :D
Barry/Jun: Hyper hyper hyper hyper hyper. Just an amusing character to watch. His "dancing" and freak outs...
This is a list of the stories that I have written. I figured I'd put this up here because my profile is getting too long. This saves you guys the trouble of scrolling to the bottom. Unless you wanted to, of course.
Sharing From Union (ongoing, last update: Sep25): My first fic. A multi-chaptered story that follows the adventures of Ash and friends in some events leading up to the Daybreak Contest and Ash's Sunyshore Gym battle. Some chapters loosely based on actual episodes.
Love Needn't Be Rocket Science (one-shot): A one-shot I wrote for a contest we held on the Serebii PearlShipping thread. Ash and Dawn come to terms with their feelings for each other, with a little push from Team Rocket.
My opinion on how to deal with Shipping FanFics
So, it is apparent to me, and for relatively obvious reasons, that shippers generally tend to only read fics of shippings that they support, or can at least deal with. I, too, am guilty of this practice. It is just sometimes hard to read fanfics of other shippings, because it rings alarm bells and knocks over valuables in our heads.
The problem with this? It prevents us from viewing all of the brilliantly written material out there, purely due to bias on our part.
So, the solution:
If you see a fanfic, or are recommended a fanfic that is not of a shipping you support, here's the easy solution. Copy and paste the fanfic, chapter by chapter, into Microsoft Word or Open Office, and use the "Find-and-Replace" feature (Ctrl-H on Word) to replace the names of the shipped characters in that fic with the ones of the fic that you support. That way you can read the fic and enjoy it for what it is, the excellently written work that the other writer has put time into making. So just copy and paste, find and replace, read, and then go back to the actual story and review it! The author will definitely appreciate your going through and reading and reviewing their story, and they needn't know the characters were switched. They'll just know they wrote a good story. :).
The one problem with this method is that the characters will have changed personalities. Oh well! Just think of it as an OoC story, and deal with it. I think that the community would be a more varied place if this went on, and I recommend people to at least try it. :D.
The Pokemon year is several of our years. When Earth was hit by a meteor in 2012, a large chunk of it was blasted into space, with several humans and animals on board. Eventually it became one of our farthest planets in the solar system, so far that scientists who are past age 7 deny its existence. Because of the fact that the humans on planet Pokemon are from Earth, a "year" is a generic term to describe 365 days, not an actual age or time.
Due to the planet's distance from the sun, it receives just enough light to grow all of its trees, which are of the Holly wood variety, and they provide the oxygen for the far-reach inhabitants. However, this energy causes genetic mutations, causing the size and variety of Pokemon to differ from Earth animals, and to give them higher intelligence.
The humans also have several genetic mutations, causing them to gain better control of their movement and better shape as they grow up, but with very little to no actual aging. A young Pokemon trainer by the name of Ash Ketchum found that during his Kanto journey, he could only throw Poke Balls in one certain type of motion, because his forward momentum was restricted. To give an example of how restricted his movement was, he had to turn his cap backwards to give him better aerodynamics to generate enough speed to put the Poke Ball in the air. But as he began to grow up and explore different regions, he could move his body and arms in different motions to throw the Poke Balls, and no longer needed his hat to generate velocity.
Because of the lack of aging, there is no need for a political system. The lack of aging creates a virtual utopia. The children are young and innocent, and stay that way. The adults realize that they would've had it so much worse back on Earth and enjoy their working lives. The older people, well, they all seem to be scientists, since there's nothing better for them to do. This also explains the development of technology at such a rapid pace.
Physics and chemistry are also distorted in the Pokemon world. Chemical reactions and spontaneous combustion are common, causing even friction from razor sharp leaves to create large explosions. Additionally, two experimenters and a Pokemon from the Team Rocket corporation have found that, when falling from the sky, all velocity will have been expended while flying upwards, so the impact is greatly reduced by the time you hit the ground, allowing for numerous "blast-offs" as they called them, and good bungee jumping.
Explanation of the explanation... 2012, being the oft-believed apocalypse, an improbable date. 7 year olds being the stereotype for Pokemon watchers. Holly trees, Hollywood, like as in, movies can do whatever they want? Ha ha ha... The movement for Ash is a reference to his early Kanto stock-animation for Poke Ball throwing. The older people are all the professors. Team Rocket is self-explanatory.
I may add more, feel free to message me with comments/opinions. If you didn't notice, this is somewhat of satire.
