If you want to learn how to be a better writer you should practice, and look through tv tropes some time. I'm serious if everyone on this site thumbed through the tv tropes wiki we could have some really cool stories, simply because it spells out how the story you're trying to present can be done well, and how to avoid common pitfalls in plot or character creation.
