Author has written 2 stories for Mass Effect.
Good day, everyone. Pleased to meet ya. The name's Tom, and if you want to know the last name, it's going to take a lot more effort than just reading this profile. I refuse to divulge all my secrets to the public when the Atlantis government might very well be watching. (They've obviously been gone so long so they can build sufficient forces to stage a coup of every nation on Earth). I'm likely one of the bigger metal-heads you'll come across, and should you ever find yourself outside my window, you'll become quite acquainted with the Scandinavian metal scene, as it's pouring from my speakers pretty much incessantly. As a matter of fact, I hope one day to start my own band, preferably a progressive black metal one along the likes of Enslaved. I actually do have a fairly decent black metal shriek, so I'm hoping that that's an actually viable option. Although, I also adore progressive music (two bands of which comprise my profile name. It's awful, I know, but at least now you know the origins), as well as singer/songwriter stuff.
Just for completion, a short list of my favorite bands (In descending order): Woods Of Ypres, Edge Of Sanity, Agalloch, Poets Of The Fall, Katatonia, Porcupine Tree, Pain Of Salvation, Seventh Wonder, anything with Devin Townsend, Fair To Midland, Opeth.
I'm also a major Cinephile, and enjoy pretty much any movie that doesn't cater to teenage girls or have Michael Bay stamped on the front. Although, I'm especially partial to anything in the suspense/thriller, or science fiction genres. Although some films I adore with every fiber of my being include: Drive, Eden Lake, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Irreversible, Let the Right One In, Requiem For A Dream, I Saw The Devil, 28 Days Later, Black Swan, The Descent, Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, and last, but certainly not least, Firefly and Serenity. Captain Malcolm Reynolds may just be the single greatest character ever devised (Tali'Zorah vas Normandy not withstanding). My primary goal in life is actually to become a film-maker. I'm in the process of writing several scripts, and am just currently adding the finishing touches to one of them.
In addition to all that, I play video games far too often for my own good. I am in utter adoration of the Mass Effect franchise, and have played through the first two games more times than I care to admit. I get the feeling Mass Effect 3 will follow the same trend, ending notwithstanding. Last five minutes I'll mute the TV, close my eyes, and allow headcanon to take its course. And, I will not hesitate to say that I am indeed a Talimancer, and proud of that fact. There's something about her that feels more real than any other character I've ever encountered (as well as quite a few real people, if I'm being honest with myself). Recently, I've gotten into the Gears of War franchise, and quite honestly, I can't believe I allowed myself to miss out on it for so long. There's just something inherently awesome about having a chainsaw attached to a gun. I've died more times than I can count running into a swarm of locusts because of that very ability. It doesn't help that I'm a video game moron who can't resist a Leeroy Jenkins charge into every situation that presents itself. Additionally, I find myself enamored with the Dead Space franchise, any and all things regarding Half-Life and Portal, and Bioshock.
And just to clarify, I know I haven't said much about my enjoyment of writing itself, I just figure that taking into account the fact that I am among the populace of the fanfiction site, that should go without saying. Believe me, writing has been one of my favorite past-times since middle school.
In addition, I feel compelled to inform you that I have recently taken up the mantle of a zombie slayer, and keep the heads mounted in a case on my wall. (They're chained down, of course. The teeth still gnash). I take care of them so the rest of the world needs not busy themselves with worry over the inevitable...no. I've said too much. Worry themselves over the inevitable free ice cream giveaway next Tuesday. I encourage you to look into it. It's one tasty alibi.
