The basic premise revolves around the idea that, in The Flash Season 2 Episode 18, Barry Allen accidentally travels to the universe of the show Smallville instead of Supergirl while using the Tachyon prototype. Starts with the fic Alternate Events: When Heroes and Universes Collide, which covers the aforementioned premise, as well as an AU of the Arrowverse's crossover event Invasion!, during which heroes from the Smallville universe Earth travel to Earth-1 to aid in the battle with the Dominators. The sequels include Alternate Events 2: One Year Later, Alternate Events 3: Doppelganger Troubles and Other Threats, and Alternate Events 4: Multiversal Clashes, along with side stories A Summary of Pre-Finale Events and Green Arrow Body Swap: Alternate Events Tie-In. The final installment of the series is the Crisis on Infinite Earths-esque fic Alternate Events on Infinite Earths. Although the series starts off as a simple crossover between Smallville and the Arrowverse, other DC TV shows and films such as the DC Extended Universe, DC Animated Universe, The Flash (1990 TV series), Richard Donner's Superman film series, Superman Returns, and many more eventually make appearances.
