10/29/15: I'm not dead, I swear! I started college two years ago, and, as is unfortunately common anymore, ran into a brick wall of mental health issues. It's been very hard to be motivated to write - or even want to be motivated - but I have not given up on finishing "The Beginning and End of Everything." I really appreciate your support and sincerely thank you for being so patient with me. I love you aaaaaalllllllll...!
"Amatus" is late Latin for "beloved," and it is a different spelling of one of my favorite minor characters from the Mortal Instruments series - and I swear, that character IS a female, despite "Amata" being the correct female variation. Whoops. "Vanitas" is Latin for "vanity" or "emptiness" and is also the name of one of my favorite Kingdom Hearts characters.
Other Sites: As I make the move to other social network sites, I do my best to keep the same username and avatar to identify me. ;) You can find me at DeviantArt (I put my username as a tag on all my deviations to make them easier to find), Tumblr, Twitter, and YouTube.
I'm now and forever hooked on Kingdom Hearts, especially Sora/Kairi and Riku/Xion; Terra/Aqua and Roxas/Namine are also adamantly shipped, but I'm open to just about anything if you can write it well.
As is to be expected of most adult Kingdom Hearts fans, I'm also a fan of Final Fantasy, but I'm still working my way through the main series. My first introduction to the series was XIII, so I have a fond spot for it even while understanding the criticism behind it. (Aaaand, okay, I kind of adore Hope Estheim. Kinda maybe sorta very badly.) I've finished the original XIII and have started both sequels - and I will finally admit to being a Hope/Light shipper. Just... just not in the original. Maybe one-sided on Hope's part, as, like, a crush, but not in the original...
I started Final Fantasy VII next, which I've dropped for, like, a year now (OH GOD WHY I HAVE TO GO FIND THE KEY TO THE CITY OF THE ANCIENTS AND I DON'T WANNA AERITH'S GONNA DIE IF I DO), but I did watch Advent Children and the recap of the game, so I get it. Kinda. I hope. Just don't ask me for detailed explanations on Jenova. I support both Clerith and CloTi - Clerith a bit more, but as far as I'm concerned, they're both canon to some extent - and Vincent/Yuffie.
Thanks to a friend in college, I picked up a copy of Tales of Xillia and its sequel, so guess who has a whole new series to work through. :P Also, praise JuMilla.
I don't play them often enough to say I'm a huge fan, but I do enjoy survival horror games, and Fatal Frame, also known as Project Zero, is my drug of choice. God, this series gave me the most awful Vicodin nightmares when I had my wisdom teeth taken out... But WHAT DID THEY DO TO MY BELOVED HINASAKI MIKU.
As a sad result of my dad being a huge Sony loyalist, my parents bought Sony consoles instead of Nintendo, so I've never gotten to play the Legend of Zelda games. I'm working on playing Twilight Princess with my friend's Wii, but I really just need to get a WiiU and buy all the virtual copies I can. You kinda have to be a fan of the two main Nintendo franchises, right? Still. Nostalgic for me means Spyro the Dragon, Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper, and MediEvil.
Television, Film, and Anime:
I don't watch TV much anymore. :P The only series I really keep up with is The Walking Dead. I was a huge fan of Fringe back in the day and used to write it, but I've never been satisfied with the way I wrote the characters, you know? Maybe I should take it up again now that I'm an "adult." I also kept up with Heroes as a kid and am currently watching Heroes Reborn. I stuck with True Blood up until the end, even when the last few seasons got reeeaaally weird, but that ending is total bull. I'm kinda off-and-on-again with American Horror Story, 'cause the first season was awesome, the second season was okay but meandering, and we don't talk about Freakshow in my house. I thought it just looked disgusting and didn't bother, and my mother found it extremely exploitative of people with any kind of disability. Hotel is cool so far, though. (I missed Coven, and damn it, that one looked good!)
On a lighter note, I've watched all the Steven Universe episodes as of October 2015.
I don't really have favorite movies, either. Zombieland and Easy A are brilliant, and I finally got around to watching the original Alien trilogy, but I can't really name a lot off the top of my head.
I actually finished some anime over the past two years? Which is really surprising because I was temporarily an Asian Studies major in college, lol. Shingeki no Kyojin was actually the first anime I ever finished from start to finish (until the second season is made), and I marathoned Puella Magi Madoka Magica (holy hell I hope I got that right without looking it up) in a day. I'm halfway through both The Tower of Druaga series - do yourself a favor and look up the first episode at the very least, it's parody at its most beautiful - and Say 'I Love You.'
I kinda stopped reading, too? That was the first sign of mental health issues... Still, here's an incomplete list of my favorite books and series: Harry Potter, the Divergent trilogy, the Hunger Games trilogy, the Infernal Devices, Percy Jackson and the Olympions and the Heroes of Olympus, the Inkheart trilogy, Freak the Mighty, It's Kind of a Funny Story, Alone at Ninety Foot, The Fault in Our Stars, and Paper Towns.
I listen to a variety of music genres, but mostly I listen to alternative. Favorite bands at the moment: 30 Seconds to Mars, Switchfoot, Paramore, Imogen Heap, Ellie Goulding, Imagine Dragons, Yellowcard, and Florence the Machine, and that list is extremely subject to change. As long as it's not Taylor Swift, you should be able to get me to at least listen to it, maybe even find a song I like.
MEGAFLO, IT TOOK AWAY OUR PRETTY DANCE. -_-
Speaking of MegaWallflower... See the pretties she drew for me?! They're all for "The New Future's Face," my post-KHIII (nonspeculation) multichapter fic regarding the offspring of my favorite pairing... :D
Not long after I began TNFF, amazing Internet personality and fellow writer (and much, much, much better artist) Knight-Dawn began her own RikuShi series, complete with potential offspring - one of which is identical to Haruki, even to the name. (Don't worry, it's all cool - she even borrowed my username for a different character in the same arc.) As a result, if you visit her profile, you're likely to find some of her own Haruki artwork, like this one: Check it out, please!
As a quick note while we're on the subject of "The New Future's Face," goldeneyes713 and I have officially decided that Haruki's birthday is to be observed on the 19th of May - that's the midpoint between her birthday and my half-birthday, so sue me. :P Just in case you're interested... You've likely forgotten he's alive as thoroughly as I've neglected to update his story. Never fear, though, for during the hiatus, his story has been undergoing continuous development!
