Author has written 14 stories for Supernatural.
I'm completely obsessed with SUPERNATURAL. Just gettin' that out there :)
This site is my first experience with writing and I am loving it! I started out by writing a smutty one-shot (On the Way to Phoenix) that was entirely for fun and somehow got the nerve to post it, figuring I would get nothing but a couple of reviews calling me a perv or telling me not to quit my day job. Instead, and this is a testament to how friendly and wonderful the people on this site are, I received suggestions to make a full story out of it and was given a lot of advice and encouragement in doing so. The result was a 150k multi-chap (Two Guys, a Girl, and a Ticket to Hell) and a new favorite passtime :-)
What to expect in my multi-chapter fics:
I am a canon-writer, or at least canon up to where I butt in. That is, the overall characters and situations remain as they are in the show. I try really hard to keep the canon facts and the details straight and even harder to keep the canon characters in character (IC). I often include OC's, but my fics are mostly about Sam and Dean, first and foremost (or Cas, in the case of Band of Misfits). I often throw some romance in there but it is always built in around a real hunt or Apocalyptic mayhem and no romantic relationship will ever diminish or smother the relationship between the brothers. I also try to keep my fics interesting and original by never following along with the show's canon episodes.
Although my penname is deanstheman and I am a Dean girl, I LOVE Sam and Cas too and they are usually featured just as prominently (sometimes even more so) in my multi-chap stories.
PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO MY STORY RATINGS. 'M' IS FOR MATURE SO IF IT IS RATED M, THEN IT MEANS IT IS FOR MATURE AUDIENCES.
And please, don't be scared off by the naughtiness in the opening scene (a total lemon) of Two Guys, a Girl and a Ticket to Hell - it is a very real SPN story once you get past the first scene, I promise. Feel free to just skip to chapter 3 and start there.
A run-down of my fics, how they fit together, and what to expect is as follows:
THE TASHA SERIES:
The Touch of an Angel (Cas/OC/Dean)
T-rating to me means some swearing (I can't help it; in my mind those boys occasionally use the real F word instead of 'frigging' and 'crap') but no graphic 'adult' scenes.
Unpaved Roads (a Supernatural love story complete with demons, angels, and various fuglies, follows the 5 times Dean met an OC starting at age 11, follows basic canon but goes AU from time to time, more Dean than Sam, some Cas and Adam)
Someone to Save You (set in season 2 - involves Sam's visions, YED, and the psychic kids. Canon-compliant, plausibly fits in between canon episodes, equal Sam and Dean.)
Band of Misfits (set in Purgatory, is Cas-centric and has lots of Dean and Benny, but no Sam. Canon-compliant but goes slightly AU at end.)
Evermore in the Wind (sequel to Someone to Save You and also Band of Misfits, set partway through season 8, AU version of the trials, equal Sam and Dean and Cas)
Running Against the Wind (a one-shot that got extended into a short 3-chapter story, set in season 7 when things were getting a bit depressing. This was my way of giving the boys some much-needed hope)
He Ain't Heavy (A short, 2-chapter AU that showcases how differently Sam and Dean react to the challenges facing them when Adam is mysteriously brought back from the cage)
I LOVE following a few really great stories at a time and getting those wonderful update alerts in my inbox to brighten up my day and only wish there were more hours in every day so I could read more fic. It really sucks but work and RL get in the way, lol. I read many different styles and genres, including complete AU and crack and all sorts of genres that I would never write in myself. I'm not really into Wincest or Destiel but I certainly don't have anything against them. They are a very popular and entertaining part of the SPN fandom and I say if that's your thing, have at it! :)
There's really no type of SPN fic I won't read provided it's well done and keep me entertained. I enjoy the angst, the comedy, the action, the romance, and whatever else we can throw at these boys. I have found some truly amazing SPN stories on this site. Some beautifully and masterfully written and still others that I loved just as much despite a few technical flaws or less polished writing skills. Entertainment comes in many forms and an imperfect story on this site with an intriguing plot or entertaining characters can draw me in as quickly and as thoroughly as the works of many best-selling authors out there.
There are more stories on my 'to-read' list than I will ever have time for but I will keep on trying to get through them, I promise! I tend to read more when I am between stories so if I get behind while reading yours, don't worry, I haven't abandoned you - I will be back as soon as I have time.
I always review because I now know first-hand how much each and every review means to the author. Well, sometimes I read on my phone and forget to go back later, but I do try my best. I'm a firm believer that anyone who writes their own fics and gets enjoyment out of receiving reviews should pay it forward and review any stories they read. Reviews don't have to be all good by any means, but if you're critiquing, I think you should try to be polite and helpful about it. Remember, this is not a professional writer's site. This is family skate hour at the local rink and everybody gets to play on the ice, not just Michelle Kwan and Sydney Crosby.
I love chatting to fellow authors and fellow fans - there are so many awesome people on this site and this is the one place where I can express my complete obsession with Supernatural and not be judged for it! In fact - I think there may just be a few people out there who have it worse than me, lol! Check out my list of favorites for some really great authors with wild imaginations and a true love for SPN. I tend to forget to add new writers I find but eventually I'll get them on there :)
Miscellaneous other stuff:
Since I tend to forget to add that disclaimer in my stories (even though this is fanfiction and if I'm posting here I think it's obvious I am just a fan, duh), I will just say here that for all the stories posted on this account, I don't own anything in relation to the source material. Any characters, plots, or lines you recognize from the show are just borrowed for my harmless entertainment. The only things that are mine are my obsession and my imagination.
There's this new 'Image' feature on ffnet but I completely SUCK at CG stuff so please don't make fun of my pitiful attempts at story banners lol! Anyone wanting to volunteer their services wouldn't be turned away...
So feel free to drop me a line anytime! (also @ffdeanstheman on Twitter. I'm pretty boring but would love to follow some fellow SPN fans!). I started up a livejournal (also called deanstheman) but haven't really figured out how to post anything yet - eventually I will have a look and figure it out.
