Hey, I'm DF and I'm just another nerd taking up cyberspace. :)
-27, married, mother of two cute and stinky little kiddos
-Overly enthusiastic dreamer with a vivid, runaway imagination
-Writer, musician, wannabe artist, reader, beginning cosplayer and amateur photographer
-I love cheetahs...also cereal
-I struggle daily with depression/anxiety/panic disorder, but I'm still here and still kickin’ :)
-Country kid through and through and proud of it. Cows are my friends, the smell of fresh-cut alfalfa overwhelms me with happiness, the sound of field sprinklers in the night soothes me to no end, and tractors are my favorite type of vehicle.
Ohhhh, here we go.
For me, it's so much more than a pastime. It's part of who I am and always has been.
I'm not great at it, but I practice and work every day to find my voice. I'm still learning and growing, but that's the best part! Seeing where I've been, where I am, and where I'm headed is so exciting!
I love creating plots and worlds and characters to inhabit them. I love taking already-existing plots and characters and giving them something different to experience. I love shaking things up, challenging the norm and improving on earlier ideas. I love putting words together and spinning them into an exciting tale for my readers and for my own enjoyment as well.
There are always new literary pathways to forge, new twists on familiar themes, new ways to go about storytelling. It's an epic journey and I hope it never ends.
Now That the Sappy Stuff's Out of the Way:
-First off, I love connecting with my readers/fellow authors! Feel free to leave feedback on any of my stories or drop me a line just to say hi.
-As a rule, I usually try to finish every fic I begin, but since I am a married mother of two and family responsibilities take precedence, there are times when I simply can't update regularly, even if I want to. Please be patient?
-On that note, please don't beg me for updates/more chapters! I update my stories when I can/want, not on demand. Sometimes I take a break from a story to change pace or avoid forcing myself to write something I just don’t feel like working on. Sometimes I’m still ironing things out plot-wise and need time to plan and create the very best story I can. And sometimes I drop a story altogether and, though it can be a huge bummer for everyone involved, that is my right as an author. It doesn't happen often, so don't worry too much.
-Which brings me to the point that I jump fandoms. A LOT. Meaning I may not be interested in the same things tomorrow as I am today. I'm super weird that way, and when it happens, I tend not to write anything new for the fandoms I leave behind, even though I still enjoy them. It's stupid and mostly out of my control and drives me nuts, but if the interest and motivation aren't there anymore, I can't make it work because my brain is obnoxious that way.
-Speaking of obnoxious, yeah, I make mistakes like everybody else. Sometimes really idiotic ones that stick out and poke you in the face. Plotholes, typos, misspellings, out-of-character characters, missing words, etc. It's all part of figuring out how to be a writer, but...I get kind of embarrassed about them, ha. I do try to thoroughly comb through every chapter multiple times before posting...buuuuut oftentimes I get a little too excited, jump the gun, and stuff slips past me. If you notice anything blatantly obvious or have constructive suggestions, please let me know, but do it nicely. ;)
