i use ellipses excessively... but i'm getting better, or trying to at least... even tho i read all different sorts of manga i mostly read naruto fan fiction... i tend to prefer darker stories (in any media) i don't review very often because i can barely ever think of anything of value to 'say'... i would just tick myself off if i started reading a story that's 40 chapters in and i just left as many reviews saying "good chapter, i eagerly await more." not to mention saying things like "i can't wait for more" sounds like i'm pushing for the author to work harder when im really just trying to express my appreciation of their work, and the biggest and, depending on point of view, dumbest reason i don't like leaving reviews of the type pointed out two strings of thought ago is, doing so makes my comments seem disingenuous... repeat the same things too many times and it starts just being a habit, as if you don't really mean it anymore, and i don't want my comments to ever seem that way because of this i usually end up doing two things in all of my comments both of which kind of add to my reviews' quality of being overly positive to the point of sounding almost sarcastic 1. i point out my aversion to/the rarity of me leaving a review and 2. i kiss far too much ass... but i really do mean what i say... at the time of me writing this i've read hundreds of chapters from i'm not sure how many stories, but i have left less than 40 reviews, most of which on stories written by authors on my favorites list which is at the moment populated by a grand total of 5 people, each of which having had to earn their place on the list with at least one story that i deeply enjoy, not that a spot on my list is really a point of honor, im nobody, but that isn't the point, the point is if i leave words of praise even once i didn't likely think your story was 'okay' i thought it was great, and if i leave a number of them i most likely think you are an amazing author and probably have you on my favorites and alert lists... (or, on rare occasion i think your story could become great and chose to offer encouragement because you haven't gotten enough of it in my opinion) that last line bringing me to my next point... unfortunately i've seen potential in a story i ended up not liking a few times. when this happens i'll just stop reading the story... i will never warn someone that i'll stop reading if 'this goes that way'... i won't tell someone they need to 'fix' something or i'll stop... there is nothing to fix, if i don't like it it's my own fault... you, the author, are the creator of your world(s) i am a mere visitor enjoying the sights, and if i loose interest i will simply leave... i have no right to say you have erred in a universe of your own design and to authors of stories this has happened with, i apologize, i have given you my support and then taken it away without warning and thus wronged you, but i believe you are better off without someone such as myself, that can not see the beauty in the culmination of your efforts to all the authors of stories i've enjoyed; thank you for your efforts, they are much appreciated oh and just to put it out there: i don't particularly dislike any characters and i'm not a drooling fanboy for any characters same goes for any possible pairings also i have nothing against any author that bashes a character in their story as long as the story itself is interesting, it's your universe do whatever you want, im just here to watch the show i would like to see a good story explore Hanzo, i don't have any ideas on how it could be done, but just the fact that simply surviving in a fight against him made three people legends speaks volumes of the astounding power he supposedly held in his prime... it's a pity, much like Hiruzen he will likely never be shown to have earned his fame in the cannon... we are simply told that they and others were of unimaginable ability because of the great difficulty if not impossibility of creating set events that inspire awe on the same level that can be achieved by allowing our imaginations to 'fill in the blanks' with nebulous ideas of their power. take a moment and actually think about it... the sannin... the three legendary ninja... were granted that title for surviving... not winning... not even being difficult opponents... just because they managed to not die in a fight against this one man... could you really think up a fully flushed out back-story that would genuinely warrant such a thing and actually be believable? if so, please... i beg of you... write this story And now for something not Naruto related... Hellsing; Vampires as they should be. Even if he is the 'good guy' of the show, Alucard is absolutely horrifying... That is all... |
